Ghazghkull Thraka Take 3 !

Ghazghkull Thrakka is probably one of the most famous special characters in the whole 40k verse and  understandably so since he's also one of the very first to have had his model. Orktober still being in the air (my understanding is that orctober runs from one month of october to the next), and having my schedule a little challenged by Trench Crusade I'm finally paying my hommage to Gork and Mork this year !

Trench Crusade Observer

Hey all, It seems like painting one model at the time, although very unlike me, is proving to be quite efficient for me ! With some of the mercenaries from the first Trench Crusade kickstarter on the table, I moved onto the next one that fet fun and picked the Observer.

Trench Crusade Witchburner

So with the core of my pilgrims done, I started working on mercenaries and official models from the first kickstarter which I was kind of eager to do. After doing the communicants last time, I've primed a few others but decided to focus on one (quite unlike how I usually procede)

Trench Crusade - Communicant anti-tank hunters

Following the Trench Crusade vibe I'm in at the moment, I've finally allowed myself to paint the Communicant anti-tank hunter from the very first Kickstarter.

Trench Crusade - Ecclesiastic prisoners and Stigmatic nuns

Hey everyone, following the pilgrims for my first Trench Pilgrims force, I wanted to get the "human" elements done before moving on to the more exotic and impressive units, to set the scale.
I've had a pretty good idea of what I wanted for these and had the bits sorted for a while so it was just a matter of sourcing the missing elements and more importantly, the time to assemble and paint them.

Fantasy adventurer scout

Hey all, a quick and easy one this time, just a palette cleanser to remind me howfun and pleasant those old citadel models are, after painting bulks or big models, this one felt so refreshing !

Trench Crusade - Trench pilgrims

Hey all, at the start of a new school year, it was time to start (yet) another project and one had my interest for a while since the launch of the first Kickstarter actually.
I'm not a fan of historical gaming but throw a bit of fantasy or horror with a zest of Uchronia and it immediately starts to look sexier to me.

Röknauts Revolution - Bikers and new units

Hey everyone, hope summer is going well (if a little warm for those in the northern hemisphere), I'm only just on holidays with house works stalling (including the long awaited gaming room) but I've had the delightful surprise to be offered a set of Ontos Röknauts after painting the first set a couple of years ago.

Middle-Earth Goblin warriors and a lost robot

Just to take a little break from my 54mm projects and as a speed painting test, I've assembled 18 goblin warriors from the Hobbit range to see if I could paint them in a single sitting and hence have feral creatures to use in pretty much any setting I want.

Inq et nunc - Demon huntress Tanjira

So following the completion of my first full Inquisitor band not long ago, I jumped on the next right away ! For some reason, I've decided my bands would have a leader and 2 acolytes plus a familiar so I started the new band with the leader once again and after a little thinking, I've decided the demonhunter would be the next leader.

Inq et nunc - Inquisitor Wendig's acolytes

Hey everyone !

So following the release of my first 54mm inquisitor, I wanted to do his retinue soon after. With a good bucnh of models to pick from, I had to think about the kind of band I wanted this one to be.
I see Joos Wendig as a rather fresh puritan kind of Inquisitor, sort of "by the book" agent but not too broken to make him an overrigid psychopath (yet) so I wanted him to still rely on his organisation and hence have a more military/organised look.
So I picked a couple of models that had similar parts (like the quilted parts) and decided to give a coherent colour scheme.

Rogue Trader Scouts

Hey everyone ! This is one of those days when I can proudly say I've completed a project ! If you scroll back in time to 2019, I painted a force of terminators for Space HulkI painted a force of terminators for Space Hulk.
Reading this and looking at the powerful illustrations, you know the scouts were just waiting to happen ! Well 5 years later they did !

See how the scouts proudly feature along their heavy armoured brothers !

Wasteman Globe Strider

Hey all !
So painting bigger models got me to look at some lonely model which had been standing for ages on the desk. This Globe StriderGlobe Strider is one of Jaycee Fairclough's insane creations for Wasteman.
I love Jaycee's style, having painted quite a few of her models now. The style is nervous, straight to the point, sometimes a little rough but if approached from the right angle, makes fun models that can be painted in no time.

Inq et nunc - 54mm Inquisitor Joos Wendig !

So back in 2001, Games Workshop released Inquisitor, an absolute bimb that changed a lot of things. The main change being the 54mm scale which wasn't already a popular scale in other universes and not even the first alternate scale in their licences since we had had Epic, Manowar and all but it was bigger, grittier and more granular than anything before.
I was hooked like many people then and a 20 yo me dived in whole heartedly, ignoring the lack of skill or experience to do something new. Of all the projects I started, only one and a half got painted and 20 years have passed in the blink of an eye with my tenderness for that project still intact.

Not long ago, my good friend Axiom asked me if I wanted to do some 54mm modelling along him and I couldn't have wished for a better incentive !

Off all the half finished projects, I picked my favourite then, the young hopeful Inquisitor, based on Covenant, a Jes Goodwin sculpt. There wasn't any putty work left to do, it was just waiting for some paint and the semi samurai feel of him still was cool to me. The shotgun contrasting with the ancient broken blade (I had just seen a samurai movie with the hero having one).
The blade is from a 28mm Rackham Sessair and I gave Covenant Eisenhorn's arm, a top knot and a shotgun.

When I started though, I had this idea I wanted prominent red on him and military grade equipment (which in hindsight wasn't great since it's covered with icons, markings and fancy stuff) but it wasn't working, it was too Santa Claus than I could cope with.

This got me to stall for quite a while before realising what I only needed was to swap colours a bit. I also got drowned in way too many painting projects but once I cleared the slate, I had tremendous fun painting this guy. The extra room for details, blending and fine stuff really is soothing where I thought it would be tedious and paralysing.

Eventually, the whole paintjob and colours clicked in like I like them to and I could paint each section one after the other and not doing anything else which is a rare thing for me, I haven't been focusing on a single model for a while and I kind of needed that to be honest.

Here you can see my Inquisitor (which I'll have to name at some point when I have his full retinue done) along the very first Inquisitor scale model I did then, a converted ogryn turned into a squat (who were very much extinct then)

I'm now pretty excited about doing the retinue and another band or 2 so I guess sometimes you just take the time !
Hope you all the best of hobby times !

The amazing Mr Mud

Hey all, quick one today, I just had this guy on the desk for ages and for some reason I can't recall, it just moved up the painting queue. I've never had any specific plans in mind but I knew pretty much any game I like to play could accomodate him so here we are

Turnip28 Troops and Battles !

Hey everyone ! So a month ago, my good buddy Adrien offered me a gaming opportunity : "I have a free week end in a month, if you fancy it, we can play a lot of Turnip28 !". My immediate response was that I would NEVER EVER have a painted army in such a short notice since my models were not even finished converting for the most part. Then he said I could borrow some of his and that's where I knew it was horribly wrong, not that playing with his wonderful models is, but not doing them the honour of facing something new was not acceptable !

Eldar Wraithguards

Hey all, so continuing on my Eldar journey, I've finally started to paint more than just characters and got the Wraithguards I was supposed to paint last month. With the colours now settled I could get a little straight to the point.

Octarium terrain

So a year and a half back from now, my lovable Rochie handed me a set of Octarium terrain just because that's the sort of bastard he is. Fast forward to now with a couple of house moves in the way and all sorts of real life and unfocused brain issues, I finally took the opportuniy to finish a set started a year ago. That's how it happens.

GW's scenic kits have been stellar for a few years and this one is great because it's versatile, fits with plenty other things, looks good and is well designed. Some parts double up with some I had from the mek workshop I had painted but scatter terrain excess is not real, it just doesn't exist.

Turnip Snobs and cultists

So after playing some Turnip28 games back in October with my mate Adrien, I was conquered by the rules and fun of the game and wanted to build myself an army.
Like often, it took me a while to get started, gathering the bits I needed, getting some printed and getting a rough idea of what I wanted as a whole aside from the couple of stuff I wanted to try.
So after building plenty of models without much of a plan, I decided to focus on the prerequisites of the games : Snobs.

Ondryel - Eldar Farseer

So this is month 2 of my painting challenge, doing an Eldar army in 6 months and although I completely missed the great plan I had built and the optimal list of entry, I still managed to paint one of the entries.
Now I originally meant to paint Eldrad Ulthran himself (well the model, not to use him as the big daddy) but poor planning, a global shortage of green stuff and late deliveries meant I had to adapt to still make it and therefore I picked the original Farseer, an absolute classic by Jes Goodwin of course.

Wicker Man and Magic Stones

So I have this gaming week end planned in March involving Celtic barbarians, demons of the sea and weird worshippers of giant worms. While I'm not meant to bring a whole table's worth of scenery, I thought it would be silly not to paint and bring the related scatter terrain kindly printed for me by my mate Michael.

The Eldar Avatar of Khaine

Hey everyone ! it's the end of January already but happy new year to all of you, hoping 2024 brings you as much happiness and achievement as you need !
So last year I foolishly let myself embak on a "tale of gamers" kind of challenge focused on 2nd ed 40k. After being tempted by tyranids but realising wi only had like half the points in models, I looked at the obvious choice, chaos, but I only have troops now left to aint so nothig to make a proper list of.
Then some old friends came and knocked at the door after a 10 years hyatus : the Eldar.
It had been exactly 10 years since I last stripped and reassembled my army !
