So with the core of my pilgrims done, I started working on mercenaries and official models from the first kickstarter which I was kind of eager to do. After doing the communicants last time, I've primed a few others but decided to focus on one (quite unlike how I usually procede)
My pick was the witchburner because it' quite frankly an awesome design, model and I have to say reading the rules, it made me want to paint one even more.
Oh and it's not so much the divine punishment or damage he can deal but the simple fact the model can't dash because it's above him that got me thinking he was a good one !

Like always, Mike Franchina's art is breathtaking
This time, I really got a strong vibe like the inquisitors in Sha, one of the best sci-fi comics ever (From Pat Mills and Olivier Ledroit).
Painting wise, I've set myself a fun challenge to start the whole model in the same colour and treat the reds in different ways to make them different, with the exception of the cape which was started from an off black and brought back towards the same base red.
I'm really fond of the result, I love painting red and this forced me to paint it differently and bring contrast on a model that's got very few colours.
I love that the guy needs nothing more than a cane to boss around and inflict god's wrath onto others !
So here he is with some of his colleagues (or future victims, should their lack of faith become disturbing)
Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteThanks !
DeleteThis is one badass line of models!
ReplyDeleteI got hooked on the first model from the original kickstarter but the lore and art is what really kept me and made me go further, impeccable work
