Slaanesh Renegades

I'm still painting more recruits for my renegade army and this month, I thought I could add some of the Slaaneshi. After all, I've already  spent some time on Slaanesh this past year so it was time for me to get the marines done !
And since I had to paint 400 points I thought I could just as well add that Dreadnought I unboxed a while ago...

Rogue trader Keeper of secrets

Soooooo, still working on my "tale of several gamers" entry for March, I've managed to paint something easier. Since We're supposed to paint 400pts a month and I have painted 1100 in 2 I thought I could use the spare points and make March an easier month with about 250 pts worth of Demonic lust. ^^

Lady Woodgin - Slaanesh Cult Dominatrix

Hey, you might remember the six sinners from earlier, well; I've been meaning to upgrade the team from quite some time now but was looking at how to do it right. The arrival of the new Necromunda was the right trigger for this for 2 reasons :
- The magnificent Escher models in the box
- The upcoming chaos cult list in WD.
Oh yes, chaos cults in the underhive, that's how groovy it's going to get.

Back to basics - Hacking old lead like in the old days.

If you've ever read the little text at the top of his page, you might have guessed I'm a bit of a Jes Goodwin fan like many. Now the thing is, I started my journey into the hobby by buying chaos champions and warriors of his in 91 and although I did paint the first 2 as they were (with thick coats of enamels), I quickly tried to do my own conversions, inspired by the magnificent exemples in the books and magazines.

WHO WANTS TO ROCK THE PARTEH ? - Rogue Trader Noisemarine

After quite and exhausting but pleasant week end hitting people with a stick and screaming at them wearing a blue skirt and an armour, I finally took the 10 minutes required to finish what had remained a WIP for too long...

Nofore Pleh - Slaanesh cultist in the grim darkness of a far future

So this year, the WIPsters have come up with the fabulous idea of doing a secret Santa. Every does that I know but since the group is relatively small, there was a good chance we'd get a decent present under the Christmas tree at least !

Fight for the sarcophagus : Realm of Chaos Battle report

Holidays are not necessarily full of good hobby opportunities since they basically imply being far from models, paint and other tools. On a other hand they can mean getting closer to other people you'd love to meet. That's what just happened to me the other WE when I arrived in Montréal Canada where I got to meet Iannick Martin from the "Of Marauders and citadel" blog.

My last game of the 3rd edition of Warhammer Battle was 23 years old and getting back on track with  Realm of Chaos games felt like the best plan available.

The icing on the cake was I could finally get to game with the warband I designed for the Realm of Chaos warband challenge on the Oldhammer forum. I would be facing his Nurgle warband...

We used the scenario generator from the Lost and the Damned book and Iannick came up with his :

The Realm of Chaos Challenge - Finished Warband

My complete Slaanesh war band
OK, you may remember from this post I engaged myself in a little challenge over the oldhammer forum

The aim being to collect, model and paint a warband designed by another contestant.

The war band I was assigned (designed by Mr Phreed) was this one :

Warband 7 – Asslessman
Champion of Slaanesh:
Human 10 Wizard (rolled 71, upgraded him to lv15 for survivability)
Gift: Willpower increase (Slaanesh). Second gift to be decided upon by painter.
Trait: Short legs (first rolled silly voice, then short legs - decided short legs was funnier from a modeling point of view)
Trait: Spits acid

Retinue:
• 3 Dark Elf (light armour, hand weapon, crossbow)
• 12 Chaos Cultists (handweapon, shield, no physical attributes)
• 2 Minotaurs (fudged. Rolled 4 orcs - didn't feel very Slaaneshi, so rerolled and got 2 minotaurs. Perfect!)

I won't go into the model selection since I already covered that part in the first post but I can explain a bit my strategy to paint this band.
I wanted to avoid the traditionnal use of purples, pinks and vivid colors. You will understand in the background story I built I needed noble colours and the other important point for me was to limit the palette to gain as much time as possible (since we had a month and a half to finish this challenge). I opted for dark red, black and bone colours because they go together well and suit my needs in terms of background.
I believe cultists in the cities tend to avoid displaying big Slaanesh symbols or signs which could betray them so the colourscheme seemed right, this is a reason why I opted for a more original path.
