Yearly review tiiiime ! Quite a cliché I know but I've done the exercice since the start of this blog and it's a good thing to reflect on past and future at once !
What I have painted this year :
Models painted : 233
That's a 25% increase in my output which is quite frightening and most probably one I'm not even close to beat !
The painting output has been varied this year like the previous before with models from all sorts of range and for al sorts of games. I think variety is the key to keep the mojo up !
What I have played this year :
- I've played some of the new Necromunda and I'm loving it entirely !
- I've finally played some Dracula's America and would definitely play more, it's great !
- I've tried painted 3 more bands for Shadespire but have yet to play it seriously although I've had a few games.
- Apart from that, I've gone back to Rogue trader a bit, some 40k 2nd ed and even some Battletech !
- Still no Video games. More power for me !
- A great oldschool WE with plenty of friends in Metz
- I got some Necromunda and Dracula's America amongst many things with my Friend Sho3box in Ireland as well
- And of course the year got its crowning achievement with BOYL with a Necromunda campaign just before !
Once again I can be pleased by the really great games I had with such wonderful people !
That's too many games to really count them but they've all been played with coold models , great looking tables and people I deeply like so I couldn't ask for anything more really !
Personnal side :
- I still haven't moved home this year, awesome, but I want want to now...
- I'm going to practice Kendo a bit more and hope to have some achievements on this front thisyear !
Blogging and life on the net :
Funnily enough, I've painted way more things but have blogged significantly less ! It's probably due to me painting more batches and small bits and bobs for scenery I guess.
As far as celebrity goes, I managed to get published in some fancy places like the official Underworlds page, Warhammer TV (thanks Andy !) and even White Dwarf, which is always nice ! ^^
2 Bands in White Dwarf at once is a cool achievement ticked off really ! I'm quite chuffed about it although many people have been published before.

Collecting :
I can't say I've bought much this year but I have bought the blackstone fortress box which is quite an investment in time and models !
I think the most important thing for me was starting collecting Epic and I didn't do that the soft way ! I've been greatly helped by plenty of adorable people so will try to do them proud by assembling some great forces !
Projects :
What could be my goals this year ?
- Painting more renegades. I've said it the last 3 years but I still have plenty !
- Necromunda will always be at the core of what I like so there will be more for sure !
- I really want to finish my Champions of Law for Dragon Rampant, I haven't made any progress in 2018 but slow and steady should get me somewhere !
- I'm getting a good sense if where I wanna go with scenery so there will be more to be able to provide better tables for my fellow players !
- As usual, I'll overcommit in group projects but that's just the way I like things. There little point in not making this a shared experience the way I see it !
What do I want for 2019 ? Well I don't think I'll do as much as in 2018 on the hobby front but the personnal one seems so be heading the right way so all in all it should be pretty exciting !
DeleteWell done, keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteCheers, I'll do my best !
DeleteBonne année à toi et à tes proches et merci pour ton art !
ReplyDeleteGrand merci !
DeleteGood luck for 2019, I look forward to following along on your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I appreciate that and your effort to comment as often !
DeleteHappy new year and thanks for continuing to blog in order to both motivate and amaze me in my hobby!
ReplyDeletePleasure's mine mate but it's nice to keep familiar hobbyist along for this journey !
DeleteI am continually astonished by the quantity, quality and variety of your output. I love seeing every new post as I never know what to expect - it could be a 1980s classic WHFB warrior, a 1990s Confrontation gang, a fantastic piece of MDF terrain, or the newest GW plastic release.
ReplyDeleteKeep it coming for 2019!
It's a journey I enjoy sharing with the likes of you Jon so I really hope I can continue to provide !
DeleteHappy new year and it has been a really productive one indeed!! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers amigo, it's great fun I have to say !
DeleteFantastic output this year JB. It's funny how, when you do more actual hobby, you have less time to blog about it.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably more about what I've painted since I blog everything I paint.
DeleteThanks a lot Sean, and here's to another one !
Mec an amazing year, and I think we are ramping up for an even bigger one!!! I think your mounted renegades are my favorite for your painting output....the conversion on the jugger is mind-boggling at it's simplicity but it changes the whole dynamic of the miniature. Kisses
ReplyDeleteCheers mec, it's great fun to have you guys around to push ourselves mutually towards even more fun !
A+ Nico
Merci mec ! C'est pas tout de la figurine donc le compte va du petit baril de décor au gros bâtiment en passant par tous les gugusses mais c'est assez cool d'avoir un peu dépoté !
DeleteIt's always a treat to see your work on your blog. That's a great number of minis to hit, especially considering the variety and conversions you do (legions of rank and file are easier to paint obviously). Big congratulations on dodging the video game bullet. I was doing pretty well until the fall and then lost a few dozen hours to an old favorite. It's a great way to zap your hobby momentum.
ReplyDeleteYeah, not getting a PS4 was a hard choice but I had to make a choice as there's only a limited amount of spare time in a day !
DeleteThanks a lot for the kind words !
A cracking year! Thanks for sharing your wonderful work...
ReplyDeleteWell thank you sir and I wish you the best of years !
DeleteBulge-or and pubescent boy? Lol wtf!
ReplyDeleteYeah I always get a lot of feedback on this one. It's a long story ^^'
DeleteThat's a very impressive year JB. 233 is one hell of a total, especially at such a high level of quality. That venator is an astounding miniature.
ReplyDeleteSome great achievements in there too, getting into WD? Bloody hell. Well done to you my dear!
Thanks a lot, I have the chance to have giants around to lend me their shoulders to stand on. ;)
DeleteYou had a great 2018. Here's wishing an even better 2019 and also a belated Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot to you, you keep posting quality stuff and commenting (which reminds me I don't take the time to comment despite reading) which is all very appreciated. Best of years to you !
