Hey all ! So what do we have here today ? Well a few more opponents for Blackstone Fortress (there are still 75% left to paint out of that box so expect some more !)
So, spindle drones ! They're the enigmatic (so far, haven't played or read much, don't want spoilers please) sentries of the Fortress, pretty expressionless and yet intriguing and menacing.
We know they're equally organic and mechanical but I wanted to make them look entirely different from the Ur-ghuls so went for something aged and military so to speak and what better inspiration than the great Hayao Miyazaki himself ! It might be a bit far fetched but that's what I had in mind anyway !
I quite like working on those very small batches of villains, 4 of them are almost 10% of the content and it's a number one can paint rapidly enough !
O! That's a novel and very cool take on the drones. Makes perfect sense that in a Chaos setting they'd fall into disrepair to a certain extent, not like there's a drone servitor around to polish those carapaces.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much it really, and I want my villains to be in link with the environment.
DeleteAnd I wanted them done quick 😉
I like your take on these. The rust is a very nice touch. The lenses look really good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I wanted the lenses to be the only neat part of them.
DeleteThat's indeed unusual. Nice work !
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the ranger?
Thanks, no but I've finally got some purple, I've broken the gun for the 3rd time though so I'm not on the best terms with the model right now 😅
DeleteDamn... now I need those minis.
ReplyDeleteThat's the way it is ! Sorry !
DeleteAnother fantastic adversary group to fight. Love where you pulled your inspiration from. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks ! The inspiration really came naturally !
DeleteThe rust effects are gorgeous. Truly, it is top-tier work, Asslessman!
ReplyDeleteall really simple and lazy techniques though ! thanks Matthew !
DeleteThey do look interesting models, there's something creepy about the way they have no obvious weapons as well. The paintjob works very well, I can imagine them lurching to life from inaction - and good shoutout to Laputa as well!
ReplyDeleteSince I haven't even played, I'm not exactly sure how they attack and all so they're still a mistery to me ! Thanks !
DeleteThese are just ace man!!
ReplyDeleteSimple and effective enough I guess ! I need that to keep the pace on this box, I mean to finish it for the summer !
DeleteThe works of Hayao Miyazaki is certainly a great inspiration for color schemes. And the contrast between the two villians was superbly visualized in paint.
ReplyDeleteShoulders of giants and all that ! :)
DeleteThanks a lot !
Love those Ghibli robots and Castle in the Sky was a real formative movie for me as a kid. Lovely work on your own Robo's!
