Riff Raff and Evil Ash - Undead servants

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the charms of Hungary and Budapest, getting back behind the brushes did feel great. I had started 2 models bafore leaving and I was eager to get back on them.
These 2 models, despite being of very different statures and status, bear one thing in common.
Come on, I'm sur you know who they're inspired from...

On the left, we have no other than evil Ash which I really hope all of you know (otherwise you're excused and you can leave to go watch the Evil dead movies right away).

Go cry to mama !
He is Bruce Campbell's evil alter ego in "Army of Darness" and therefore bears a few similarities with the main character (and actor, namely, brown pants with a blue shirt and that chin you could recognise amongst thousands.

Now my good pal Mr Saturday has already painted his model exactly how it should be, thus leaving me an open field to paint mine how I wanted...

Picture with full blogpost here.
Since I had no real constraint, I just repeated my colour scheme on this guy and I think it worked quite well in the end. In gaming terms, I'm still unsure about how he can be played in Mordheim (probably a new necromancer when the first dies) but for Frostgrave, he'll definitely be a captain.
If or when I ever upgrade this force to Dragon Rampant size, he'll be a natural leader for zombies I suppose, it seems to suit him.

If you ever want to get that model, have a look at Shortwars' range. ;)

Now our second character is a favourite of mine. It's impossible GW didn't have that guy in mind when they designed that model :

Yeah, let's do the time warp again...
Real fun thing being that they had already produced a model inspired by Riff-Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show (one of my favourite films and in my top 3 musicals) and added in the Eternal champion range.

Taken from this page
I think the model leaves no doubt about how it should be used in gaming terms, a dreg it is, a dreg it will be, for Frostgrave, I suppose it could be a good treasure hunter or whatever...

Darling, I think Riff Raff smell so badly it even hurts my undead nostrils...

So that's a good couple done and I still have a few models I want to add, I think the group is already large enough to be played now but I'll need some diversity and new models for a whole WE campaign...

  1. and now if you still have not seen the Evil Dead tv show, you should start right now.

The band is looking great, you can almost feel rust and rot just by looking at them.

  3. Great work A-Man.

That warband seems to be coming together effortlessly. I mean, it's obviously taking effort on your part, but it's coming together like clockwork.

    1. I haven't been struggling against any of the models so far, I started with the most difficult models and locked a colour scheme, now it's all about changing where to apply colours but not how. It's a repetitive process in a way but the models are all so different it doesn't feel as a chore but as holidays, I know you've had this feeling. It's quite refreshing really.
      Thanks.

    2. I struggled with the eyeballs on the Bad Ash model, Bob sculpted an pupil on top of an iris on top of the globe itself... like a teeny pyramid of occular challenge. You have done a fine job with this fairly unique sculpt :D

I'm disappointed you didn't add highlights to the Olley fingerprints though. Poor form tbh...

    3. I gently drybrushed the fingerprints and added a wash to make them pop and finally delicately highlighted them individually.
Some of the effort might have vanished in the weathering process... :/

    1. Don't know when this will happen but I do have a Mordheim campaign over a whole WE booked for soon (hence why I'm trying to get everything painted in time).
      Thanks !

  8. Great work on those black and dark grey hues. And the reds of his cloak and the browns of his pants (or is that just mud stained black pants) helped make him stand out more.

    1. The pantsare light brown muddied with darker brown like the cape, I kept things simple to tie with the other guys.
      Thanks !
