Space Pirates !

Hey everyone ! Happy new year and best of everything for 2026 to you all !

2025 ended with a little group project with my friends and I decided to make it this particular band I've had in mind for a long time but only just finished now after starting it 2 years ago (see HERE).
Now since I wanted my band to be mostly made of overweight untrustworthy idiots, model selection was pretty fun.

Just below are 2 guys from the Foundry street violence range left and right and in the middle, what I thought was from Hasslefree is actually a copplestone from Grenadier (thanks to the readers who pointed that out).
The camo pants were the way to tie them with their parents and all the colours are echoes of the ones used on the first pair.

Next we have the famous 3 fat pirates from the old Citadel range, the one on the right is a real weird one with plenty of messy bits showing he might have been a quick conversion but the other two are just brilliant.

Now I'm the happy owner of one painted by the ever talented Koltti; I only just remember I wanted to paint the rest in a way that would match until I realised I would probably not be doing it justice and the basing would be off so kept it as a its own thing and it still makes me happy to see it in the cabinet (I really should have weathered mine a lot more lol).

Now the last 3 are an odd bunch, the 2 guys on the left are now OOP and from Black Cat miniatures (who no longer exist if my googling is right). They looked like nuggets with potential in had but once painted I realised they were actually exquisite miniatures and very fun to paint with just the level of details where you want it.

The dog is from the 2nd edition of Necromunda and is honestly not the greatest sculpt ever, it's probably just not meant to be painted as a regular dog so that might be on me. However I like to think the poor doggo is the smartest member of the crew.

So here we are, the full band took quite a while but it turned out pretty much exactly like I meant it to be so I'm quite happy with it so what that's a nice start for 2026 !

  1. Great project and painted to your normal high standards, I see.

FWIW, your 'brawler from Hasslefree' is a thug from Grenadier's fabulous Future Warriors range sculpted by Mark Copplestone.

    1. Oh thanks for the info ! I thought it had a Kev Whitesque vibe but it makes sense!

  2. Great band of pirates. What a great way to start 2026! The Brawler from the top picture is a old Grenadier sculpt, EM4 amoungst others carry it.

    2. Finding a neat gaming company only to find out they're out of business is . . . so frustrating. :( I feel that.

  5. Really well-painted, and they work together as a very sleazy crew. Good work!

  6. Great work on these. Those Citadel pirates are favourites of mine, but I sadly sold them off long ago.

  7. Very cool group - I love the inbred family vibe with all the goitres and weird misshapen heads! The scavvy dog is a fun inclusion - works nicely.

  8. Super work - they really do look like a bunch of sleazy thugs (one even seems to be wearing his dressing gown) and go really well together. These are the guys you call when you need dirty work carried out!

I really hesitated painting the guys with dressing gowns like the dude lol

  9. The dog is technically a Scavvy dog from the Specialist Games era and some of those sculpts were certainly... an acquired taste. He is probably 'supposed' to be all mutated and sickly, but isn't that far off from a normal dog.

Though I do really like those dogs as the separate heads were fantastic bits for the time. I had a few Khornate beastmen and Chaos champions that had those heads and a buddy had some Chaos Terminators that used one for the champion.

    1. Yeah, might have been bold of me to treat it like a regular dog !
      Thanks for the info !

    1. Cream of the crop that bunch !
They're made for Stargrave, either as a band or as villains (I reckon they'll get played as villains very soon)
