The space rooster

An here we are with another model. This one arrived last week in the mailbox from my colleague Cheetor/Shoebox and as soon at it arrived, it was based and primed and good to go.

The miniature comes from Interloper Miniatures who produce excellent anthromorphic animals. You can also note that the model has been sculpted by no other than Bob Olley which is always a sign of quality :

I did not mean to paint this one as fast as I did and it was actually very low in my priority list but when I had it in hand I felt compelled to prime it and work on it. in a couple of sessions, it was done to a reasonable standard thanks to the great proportions of textures and details (juts the right ratio to have an easy and lovely model).

Rules wise, I think he will act like a mercenary from a strange planet of cheese eaters with a strong accent... Or maybe I can make a warband of antropomorphic aliens if I make him join my Klegg model, the fishman I'm about to receive and some other beatsmen... plenty of room for such a guy in Rogue trader really.

The painting of this space rooster echoes the one used for my Rooster knight with his white feathers and blue feet :

The reason is the very same than for the first time and can be read in length HERE.

Now I've painted those, I really feel like painting the others :

 And especially those :

Next post, I'm back with more Rogue trader adventurers and possibly a dark sensei with a strong french accent...

  1. That's a great miniature and one I hadn't previously seen. More proof that Olley is The Man.

    1. He has a unique style, his models paint themselves and are always full of character, That's the sign of a great sculptor to me.
Buying from small companies who do a great job feels good too so it's a win on all points.

      Thanks!

  2. Nice work JB.

The Interloper figures are great. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into my chicken men and rabbit men, but I have other things that I have to prioritise yet.

Figures like that fit into RT perfectly and yes, Olley is the man.

    1. Well, this brief interlude in the painting has refilled my mojo tank up to the top, a quick job that ends up being a pleasant one is definitely rewarding and helps getting other stuff done. Conor McLambert will be finished far sooner thanks to that little chicken man.

  6. Got my chickens in the mail today and I immediately undercoated them when I got home. I agree these figs need paint ASAP.
They're bigger than I expected but that's not much of a problem. The one above comes in a pack of three identical figs, so one will join the robo-hunters as is, while the other two need some head dress conversion.
I like the sunglasses effect, because cyclopic space chickens is one step beyond. :P

    1. Well we want pics of those now!
At first I just wanted one space rooster for the fun of them but I could definitely order the robot-hunters as well.
Cyclopic space chicken...you can hardly go cooler than that.

  7. P.S. the Rooster/vietnam connection places them perfectly in some alt. Junkwaffle/Cobalt 60 universe, like the Quar.

    1. Thanks Suber ! I think there are still countless territories to explore as far as chickens are concerned.

    2. By the way, I have you quite present these days: I'm in Mons, Belgium, due to my work; but I didn't know that the Wallonia flag was a rooster! Man, you owe a visit to the region :D

  10. Hello,
I'm the Interloper. Thank you -- thank all of you -- for your kind words.
I could blather on. Instead I'll say you've done a fantastic job on him and agree that yes, Bob Olley is the Man! From the beginning I knew I wanted him to sculpt the chickens.
    Thanks again,
    L
