The Rutabagarre Snail - a Turnip28 event exclusive !

Hey everyone, I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise seeing a french guy painting snails but this time I have a reason !

I was lucky enough to take part in the first french Turnip28 event last weekend near Lyon to meet a good fistful of other players to play this magnificent game and have fun.
I knew my man Jean Peinture since he's the one who 's taken me down this road but although I knew some of the players from Instagram and social media, I had yet to meet half the players so this was a very exciting prospect !

Road to Lustria - The Bogenhafen Saga

So I had the chance to resume our ongoing warhammer fantasy roleplay campaign a couple of weeks ago. I had been waiting eagerly for this since my character, Gregor Mc Connor, a former pit fighter turned judiciary champion was now quite experienced and there were a few matters still on hold

If you want to catch up with previous episodes, you can do so in the following links, it is quite a long read now but it's proven to be a very helpful guide to us players (and even our GM) before new games.

Turnip28 Troops and Battles !

Hey everyone ! So a month ago, my good buddy Adrien offered me a gaming opportunity : "I have a free week end in a month, if you fancy it, we can play a lot of Turnip28 !". My immediate response was that I would NEVER EVER have a painted army in such a short notice since my models were not even finished converting for the most part. Then he said I could borrow some of his and that's where I knew it was horribly wrong, not that playing with his wonderful models is, but not doing them the honour of facing something new was not acceptable !

Turnip28 Battle reports from the Octogône

Hey all ! A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to attend to The Octogône, a gaming con in Lyon (France) where I got to meet some pals amongst which the most excellent Jean Peinture !
I had brought a few models in case there was an opportunity to play some Forbidden psalm but I was especially eager to try Turnip28 after reading the rules (which you can find HERE)
From what I read, the rulesfelt simple, fast and most importantly FUN, with just enough random events and silly outcomes, strategic potential to stay interesting for a while with all the cult rules and scenarii, the kind of balance I'm after really.

Stargrave Campaign - The Unreal engine

So last week , I was lucky to get the opportunity to meet up with some friends for a whole extended week end of gaming. I hadn't seen several of them since 2019 due to real world complications so it really wa s a tremendous pleasure to see them, push some lead, talk non sense, empty some pints and catch up.

The game we focused on this year is Joe McCullough's Stargrave, the sci-fi version of the famous Frostgrave and I was really happy be hapy to finally play a game I had been waiting for for years. There were 10 of us and 6 to 7 tables with a dedicated scenario each so plenty of opportunities to explore the game, level up the bands and experience the wonders of dice roll drama.

The Mines of Karak Ture

So on the last WE of June, a group of friend and I were able to resume our ongoing campaign of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay ! If you haven't or don't remember much of it, you might want to read the first episode HERE.
Just like everyone on earth, Covid, world chaos and all sorts of non sense have postponed many games andhobby events so after our last game in 2020 it was an absolute blast to get the band back together to continue our adventure where we had left it !
To celebrate this we decided to dress up accordingly so here are our players :
Tauron (elf), Moyra (Elf), Ungrim (dwarf), Torbure (dwarf), Ced (Game master) and Gregor (human, also me)

missing Harandil our mage who was positive with Covid and had to  play via visio the whole week-end, the hero.

Shadows under Bogenhaced - Immortal... Immortal !

Last WE was one of those a few friends and I had been eagerly waiting for over the past year. We had the chance to have a rather long gaming WE (starting on Tuesday evening till sunday morning).
The game played was a Warhammer Fantasy Role Play (WHFRP) scenario, part of a broader campaign, this was my first game in this campaign while other players had already quite a few games under the belt but there was absolutely no way I could let this opportunity go to play with great people with excellent models on the most fascinating table I've seen !

BOYL19 Review

OK, Just like most previous year, I had the privilege of getting my lucky self across the channel to meet up with some very good friends for BOYL !
It has become a sort of milestone in my hobby year, one I wouldn't miss.

Just so you're prepared, this is going to be a long post with plenty of picture, so now you've been warned, let's just look at what we've had this year !

A great gaming Week End in Metz !

OK folks, so like last year, I attended a gaming WE in the city of Metz last week. It was the occasion for me to meet good gaming buddies and to play some games I don't get to play often enough, using stuff I had painted and not used yet !
We were hosted by Nico and his gaming club and enjoy the wonderful activities he had prepared for us !

Now let's take a look at the games played, take a good seat and the beverage of your choice, there's quite a few photos if you don't mind. ;)

Summer in the underhive - Necromunda campaign

It's become a sort of tradition amongst my friends going to BOYL to organise a little warming up get together at Warhammer World to enjoy a few linked games.
With the release of Necromunda earlier, it was pretty obvious this would be the one we'd play so we all came up with a gang and Jon/Axiom designed a great campaign for us to meet as many players as possible.
You might have noticed the heat this summer is quite severe so Jon added a taste of it to the campaign to increase the immersive power. Before the games, some gangers would go missing, taken by the heat or some would even become crazy, acting weird(er) to the point of attacking their own friends !

BOYL 2018 Review !

Well well well ! It's this time of year again ! I just got back from BOYL and need to tell you all about it ! Of course, Bulldog Lopez has already covered the most important points but there are still a couple of lousy details that may be of interest to some !
As usual, this post will be packed with pictures so take a good seat and a fresh drink (damn heat...) and let's go on !

Shadow wars campaign at Warhammer World (with extra)

Last friday, just before attending the annual Oldhammer event BOYL, I had the pleasure to meet up with old friends in the halls of the Warhammer World for a Shadow wars campaign.
A couple of us had prepared a campaign with a few special events and roles to make it even more enjoyable.
What a better way of starting 3 days of hobby orgy than a series of games with old friends !

Third BOYL for a bloody lucky french !!!

Back at home after a few weeks on holidays and plenty of nice stuff done and people met. Like a couple of time before, those holidays ended with the Oldhammer Grand reunion : Bring Out Your Lead aka BOYL.

It's funny how after a couple of previous editions, everything seemed so familiar this time, people, the place, it felt like home in a way.

Like for the previous years, I was determined to making the best of it again so tried to squeeze as many games in as I could.

Let's have a quick look at the games played :

Three flies and an eagle in the hive. Inquisimunda battle report

Holidays mean little painting or modelling but actual gaming so I guess it's an added bonus to seeing friends and getting some fresh air !
I had the privilege to get a game of Inquisimunda with Martin Grandbarbe and his band of Nurgle worshipers facing my Inquisitor retinue.

Pitch invasion and Oldhammery !

From my reports about Inquisitor Greyfax and the Shadow Legion, you might have understood I attened a gaming convention last Week end.

Well all of this started with a brilliant game of warhammer 3rd edition. The game was organised and masterfully GMed by Nico and I really invite you to go read his report of the game as well as the previous preparation posts. You'll have a look in a true genius' mind.

The Journey of Inquisitor Greyfax...

Just had a fantastic WE in Metz and I've managed to not only meet a few friends but also get a few games under the belt !
I'm going to review those in a series of posts (about 3 I reckon) so here's the first : The Journey of Inquisitor Greyfax...

Shadows under Bogenhaced - Mordheim campaign

Last week end, I had the chance to be invited to play a mordheim campaign with the very same folks as last year.
I was very eager to see them again and play a new campaign with my freshly painted undead band.

French Oldhammer Day at the Octogone !

Just like last year, the Octogone convention in Lyon this year was the occasion for a few of us to gather and have a healthy dose of vintage fun !

To celebrate the event like BOYL last summer. our excellent friends Geoff from Oakbound and Curtis from Ramshackle had had the delicacy of sending us a load of special event models ! I don't know what your definition of classy is but this one definitely stands in my top 3.

An intriguing monk carrying an old hammer and no other than Morcar from HQ fame !

But let's get on with the main reason we all gathered : GAMES.

Beware, there's quite a large number of pics to follow so grab a bag of crisps and a good beverage and fasten your seatbelt !

Frostgraving at Knavecon

Some of the finest wargamers around I suppose
So with a little delay, here's how I finally got to play a bit of Frostgrave at Knavecon e few days ago !
I've already talked about my warband HERE so I won't get any further on the subject but since I've managed to play 3 games in a row I thought I'd share my impressions even though those impressions were obscured by the fact I maanged to catch flu on this very day...
