Three flies and an eagle in the hive. Inquisimunda battle report

Holidays mean little painting or modelling but actual gaming so I guess it's an added bonus to seeing friends and getting some fresh air !
I had the privilege to get a game of Inquisimunda with Martin Grandbarbe and his band of Nurgle worshipers facing my Inquisitor retinue.
You might know his talent and skill with a brush but if you've met him, you'll know he's also just as nice as he's talented.

We rolled the "Scavengers" scenario meaning we had 2 treasures to retrieve and bring back into our own camp to win the game (fir those who consider other ways than anihilating their opponent).

Sergeant Trepas and his Tech Adept companion quickly moved towards the first objective, Lucci the winged mutie aiming to retrieve it under their covering fire.

The ogroid adept and the cyber acolyte moved on the left flank to secure the second objective.

The magos and his coven obviously had no intention to let those items fall into the soiled hands of the Emperor's slaves. His minions were in sight but they'd be disapointed before dying.

The big mutant ogre gathered some of the cultists around him and aimed at the first objective, the inquisitor and his band would pay the biggest toll.

Flying does come handy in environments with many levels, that enabled Luci to get a good head start. His friends were waiting for the Nurgle cultists to move and feel the weight of their sins...

Some of the cultits opted for the ground path to avoid the fire of the imperials, used to the dark depths...

The giant ogre mutant shouted a scream that echoed throughout the whole area when he reached the upper level, getting dangerously close to his objective...
Trepas and the Tech adept had a welcoming party ready for him though.

The magos and his cultists were getting the hold onto the lower sections.

The possessed gathered all his might into the form of a fireball he threw at some of the Imperial  dogs.

Meanwhile, Lucci had an unexpected visitor who prevented him from getting closer to his objective.

The ogroid acolyte though, did manage to reach his goal

Trepas and the tech adept were getting quite nervous to see the giant mutant ogre and several cultists coming their way. Their repeated shots did matter in the end when the ogre got hit by the tech-adept's meltagun shot.

The Nurgle shaman and a cultist moved towards the Inquisitor and bodyguards to take a toll on the imperial force.

The ogre gave the item to his acolyte companion to help the others with his blunt efficiency before getting pinned by a giant fireball coming from the possessed cultist. The acolyte got severely injured but managed to crawl to the edge and let himself fall to the lower ground. He'd crawl pulling the treasure back to safety, dying was not an option.

The possessed did manage to force Trepas and the tech-adpat to alt by blurring their minds with visions of horror, This didn't work on Lucci though who managed to get away with his treasure.
The Imperials had managed to take the 2 treasures back and take a few of the cultists down.
However bitter their own losses were, they were nothing compared to the utter disgust of a failure.
HIS will had prevailed once more...

This was a very fun and laid back game and Martin as nice as ever. Both of us were a bit rusty on some parts of the rules (the psykers especially) but with a little book diving and common sense we got through it. We would have enjoyed a second game even more but time was the issue like often.
Like often, the holy trinity of nice models, nice terrain and nice friends worked perfectly !

Nest stop for me : Warhammer World and BOYL !!!

I'm really eager to meet all the guys again (and for the first time at last for some). Time to work on my tan for now. B-)

  1. Sounds like a great game, I love the monster table and can attest to its utter deviousness! It's one of those tables where you fall into a false sense of security until someone finally fails a roll!

    1. Exactly, you're sometimes just a failed ammo roll or random event away from a totally different game.

  3. Very nice models, great hobbyists and fun battle report (looks like wings and muscle were the winners here) ! Seeing the old cardboard scenery in action is a nice added bonus :)

    1. Wings and M5 for the win indeed !
With a little weathering and care the old scenery did provide.
      Thanks !

    1. Inquisimunda is an add on for necromunda allowing to play almost any band you can think about. It's quite a big supplement but very fun. You can find thecrukes on yaktribe or the Empire of ghosts blog.

  7. Excellent looking game! Those old Necromunda card terrain pieces hold up well after 20+ years.

Inquisimunda was a lot of fun. So many options to make teams for. Wish Shadow War: Armageddon was as thorough.

    1. Almost exactly the same rule but both games feel differently.
The band creation is far more restricted in SW but at least it's quick and easy like the experience.
Inquisimunda does require a bit more knowledge.
      I like them both really.

  8. Your converting and paining is beautiful, also very nice to see inquisitor being played regardless of scale or edition.

    1. Cheers, it's always nice to put freshly painted models on a table. I reckon it was a first for Martin's.
We didn't play Inquisitor in 28mm but Inquisimunda.
Such a game with Inquisitor woyld have lasted more than a day !!
      Thanks !

  9. Woah! What a great looking game.
The paintjobs on the GW bulkheads and the "touch ups" on the cardboard scenery really make it pop. What a great battlefield for a couple of great looking forces. Just a great read.

  11. That winged Inquisitor (forgive me but I know not his name) certainly has a certain gravitas and presence. Every time he (or is it a she?) is in the picture my eye is drawn first to the wings.

    1. Thanks, the idea was to give to many members a real depth and presence and this one is definitely one of my favourites.
