Space Pirates !

Hey everyone ! Happy new year and best of everything for 2026 to you all !

2025 ended with a little group project with my friends and I decided to make it this particular band I've had in mind for a long time but only just finished now after starting it 2 years ago (see HERE).

Now since I wanted my band to be mostly made of overweight untrustworthy idiots, model selection was pretty fun.

Rogue Trader Mutants

Hey everyone !  With the heat wave on us, it's been a bit trickier to get the brushes out when your wet palette becomes a crisp in 2 minutes, your brushes split instantly and paint dries on your palette and brushes before it ever gets near a model.
HOWEVER, this is not a reason not to get anything done !
I got these mutants not long ago, at least not long after they were released which wasn't that far in the past. I know I've let the rogue trader stuff aside a bit lately but those were an absolute no brainer when I saw them. probably one of the most obvious illustration that needed models in the whole Rogue Trader rulebook.

Rogue Trader Scouts

Hey everyone ! This is one of those days when I can proudly say I've completed a project ! If you scroll back in time to 2019, I painted a force of terminators for Space HulkI painted a force of terminators for Space Hulk.

Reading this and looking at the powerful illustrations, you know the scouts were just waiting to happen ! Well 5 years later they did !

See how the scouts proudly feature along their heavy armoured brothers !

BOYL exclusive Navigator

Hey all ! Next in my quest to get all the BOYL exclusive models painted : The Navigator, this one is a bit special since it's the latest one (at the time of writing) from BOYL 2023 but it's a first in BOYL history since it 's the first multipart model !

This one has been sculpted by Time Prow and follows the pattern of switching from fantasy to sci-fi and the other way round every year.

Rogue Trader Mercenaries and Pirates

Hey all, so I have a Stargrave campaign coming so it was time to dust off the band I had designed for the game some time ago. Looking at the troop choices, I realised I didn't have much choice in terms of weapons so sinc everyone else was painting their bands, I felt compeled to painting some more. Since the whole crew was built on Rogue Trader classics, I had little choice but to exapand with other Rogue Trader classics. So I decided to scratch an old itch and get some mercenaries and pirates done, giving me more carbines and big guns to pick from (I'd still only be able to pick 10 anyway)

Goff Rockers - The Mörkley Krëw

So GW's recent release of the most excellent Goff rocker has seriously itched my ork and metalhead nerves, it's notthat easy you see a model without a weapon (if you leave the ammo belt and squig amp aside) just for the fun of it. On top of that, I always felt that my yet unpainted goff rockers were missing a 4th member  (even if there are several great examples of 3 heads bands). As often I usually seek any excuse to paint some models and this was the one, I had to paint the goff rockers !

Ork Boss on Giant Squig and unreleased ork casualty

Hey all ! You folks know there's never a bad time to paint orks right ? So I've decided that it was Orknuary and  I'd be painting orks. Actually, I was triggered by the release of the new Goff Rocker but more on that soon...

Rogue Trader Land Raider Prototype

So you know how Rogue Trader is an incredible gold mine full of weird nuggets to dig up right ? It's facsinating to see all the seeds of modern 40k in tis venerable tome. Now there's a model that's reached an iconic status and it's the Land Raider. Unfortunately it's not an easy one to get your hands on unless you're willing to spend a fortune.

Now the magic of life is having talented friends, I happen to have plenty of those and amongst them is Curis from Ninjabread, who sculpted the most excellent Röknauts and who decided he needed to give life to one very specific Land Raider pattern.

Giant wyrms and worms !

Now I've been slowly preparing myself for a big Stargrave campaign and amongst all the things I need is a list of critters and monsters to get some fun random encounters. So a little while ago, I made a selection of the sort of creatures I wanted to have crawling in the ground and popping right under my characters' nose !

Gretchins and grots - Early Orktober !

Hey everyone ! With Orctober approaching and a new (and hopefully final house move) house move with it, I thought I'd get some green skins done before everything's packed !

Actually what decided me to do that was an "Army on Parade" sort of event held at my FLGS in orctober where I can submit old models as long as I get a fresh unit done for the event !

Rogue Trader Khorne Renegades

Hey everyone ! Now I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in the northern hemisphere but temperatures here are not the most painter friendly at the moment right ? They're not paint friendly either but I had a WE on my own and felt like making the best of it so put 10 hours of historical podcast (unusual for me) and just went through the motions.

Space dwarves from Lafig miniatures

Hey everyone, A quickie today, I recently had the opportunity to paint some space dwarves from the ongoing Lafig Miniatures Kickstarter (check it HERE), Lafig Miniatures are creating a new set of oldschool models but with modern means.

Those were sculpted by Frank Adam in Green Stuff like any old school model is but they were then scanned and printed (with a little CAD to enhance them further) and then printed in the highest quality

Ork Nobz in 'Eavy Armour (Or Mega-armour or whatever)

Nobz are the bestest boyz of any waaagh, they're big, mean and are probably the closest thing you can find in ork culture to a concept of reliability.

That's why any good benevolent ork boss would want them protected in the best armour possible. It's also why the meanest malevolent ork boss would want those in the best armour possible.

Rogue Trader Space Marines -Scythes of the Emperor

Hey everyone ! We have something that takes back a bit today with reinforcements for my scythes of the Emperor ! You might recall I had painted all the terminator variants I could need for Space Hulk and had found some closure in that although I could have painted some scouts...
Well looks like the scouts are a little late and I painted 10 marines and a Dreadnought instead !

I have a huge interest in Space HUlk at the moment because I have the oal to play it with the kids soon so I'd rather have options.
Painting beakies might also be my contradictive response to the release of  (and I'm not a Horus Heresy fan) the new Horus Heresy boxset with all sort sof cool models.
ANYWAY, painted models are good models right ?

Röknauts Space Dwarves

Hey everyone ! I was lucky to get my hands on a set of Ontos Games Röknauts lately as their Kickstarter is running ! The project has funded in 5 minutes without a surprise !

Now I have a fondness for all the fun niche bits of the 40k verse like every other fan and Curis has poured a tremendous amount of love into making some of these concepts tangible with his own take on the subject.

The models really capture what I like the most about dwarf models, they're small but BIG, if youv'e ever painted a dwarf model face, you know what I mean, dwarf weapons, dwarf beards are such funs, noone wants to paint knees or elbows, dwarves just keep all the good parts and make them bigger while getting rid of the lame ones.

Rogue Trader Bombots !

What I like about digging into Oldhammer is those little gold nuggets you find that got forgotten but were fun concepts. What's even better is when talented people unearth those gold nuggets and make them tangible.

That's what happened with this beautiful concept of Bombots originating from the gold mine that is the Rogue Trader rulebook :

The most Excellent Curis from Ninjabread fame has designed those for the sake of it and I was lucky to get a copy to pay hommage to it !

Rogue Trader Ork Kult of Speed and Artillery

Alright First of all, Happy new year to all and best of eerything for 2022 !

Long time no see huh ? Well I've moved house and been well occupied with real life stuff and MIGHT have take a bit more than I could chew after the last orks I painted !

But in the end, it's all done and that's a huge bit out of the pile and in the cabinet so I'm pretty happy with that !

The previous Wartrak and Scorcha were such a blast to paint I immeditaly went looking for some more and boy I didn't go light handed on this one !

I wanted at least 5 bikes, a buggy and for some reason couldn't resist a squig catapult !

Oh and my wartrak was missing it's rear Hopsplat gun so y'know.

Rogue Trader Ork Wartrak and Scorcher for Orctober !

Hey everyone ! So you know what month it is right ? It's freaking october, you heard that ? OrCtober !

And what do we do on ORCTOBER ? WE PAINT ORCS, THAT WHAT WE DO !
Now to be honest, I had a few hundred things to pick from if I wanted greenskins so I picked some of the models I've had for a while and which really tempted me, namely the wartrak (minus field gun) and Scorcher !

Stargrave Crew - Rogue Trader retinue

Hey all, so after a little summer break I managed to get a few things out of the workshop, some I can't show yet and some I just finished and need to get out of my system like this Stargrave band !

Now Stargrave has been out for a little time now and despite it being the game many of my friends and I awaited, I've found myself lacking deadlines and games prospects to fully dive into production.
I could obviously pick from the several bands I've painted over the years but you know how it goes, one needs something a little fresh and fancy !
With that in mind, I knew pretty much from the start (actually from before even getting the rulebook) I would want to make a band out of the most classic sculpts from the Rogue Trader era. There's a little modern intruder of course but he really seemed to be made for that band.

That's the sort of stuff I'm talking about !

Rogue trader Ork Nobz !

Hey everyone ! Sometimes a painter needs a little break and a good hobby hug in his comfort zone. Mine are definitely somewhere in the arms of Jes Goodwin models or Kev Adams's so after painting a lot of models from my desk and requirements for Blackstone fortress, I felt like fueling my mojo up with some classics and I opted for some bad ass ork nobz from Kev Adams. This will make my orkish force grow even more and the colours are a no brainer since I'll just replicate the same old recipes on this colourful project!
