Civilians and sci-fi NPC's

Alright, throughout the heat waves and some house works, I've been following my quest to get as much terrain and as many NPC's done to get more options in my games.

So here's a batch with several nice models I've amassed over the years.

Hey everyone, so today is yet another batch of scatter terrain, I promise I'm gonna paint something else soon but this is clearing the desk and my mental space plus it's extremely motivating because of how much better my tables are gonna look !

More Sci-Fi terrain - Boxes and crates

 

Hey all, so I'm still in my terrain phase, painting a fistful of scatter every other group of miniatures to slowly but surely up my scenery stock. This time is clearly not the most fascinating jaw dropping  batch sinc its all just crates and boxes but I know those really blend builings into their surroundings, fill empty area on a table and they make great visual focus points when your players are seeking treasures.

Hey everyone ! So not so long ago, I painted a bunch of Krogloggs from Lead Adventure Miniatures's Astropolis range and I got the warm welcome and the joy I got painting them felt great so I went looking into the online store and found that there were a few of those I didn't have !

Hey everyone, you might have experienced it yourself but sometimes some models just jump to the top of the queue without any warning. Well I've had those on the desk for literal years (actually 2 house moves) and just the other day I applied some base coat onto them and two sessions later they were done.

Ancient Brain - Archon Studio

 

Following the Ettin I got i nmy dungeon and laser pledge, I thought I'd continue with big easy models and so I build the Ancient Brain. It's a big brain with tentacles and that's pretty much it, nothing to overthink or anything, paint it like a big brain with tentacles and you're good !

Hey everyone ! Quick one today.

After finishing 2 bands, I felt like I needed a palette cleanser and just decided to paint this beauty that was standing on my desk ince god knows when.

It's a machine God by Knucklebones miniatures, you can find it HERE and a mate of mine kindly printed me one to use as ... not really sure what yet but it's definitely the kind of weird creature I want to encounter at the end of a sewer/dungeon crawl, or at least the sort of stuff I ant my players to encounter as a GM.

Middle-Earth Goblin warriors and a lost robot

 

Just to take a little break from my 54mm projects and as a speed painting test, I've assembled 18 goblin warriors from the Hobbit range to see if I could paint them in a single sitting and hence have feral creatures to use in pretty much any setting I want.

Wasteman Globe Strider

 

Hey all ! 
So painting bigger models got me to look at some lonely model which had been standing for ages on the desk. This Globe Strider is one of Jaycee Fairclough's insane creations for Wasteman.
I love Jaycee's style, having painted quite a few of her models now. The style is nervous, straight to the point, sometimes a little rough but if approached from the right angle, makes fun models that can be painted in no time.

BOYL exclusive Navigator

Hey all ! Next in my quest to get all the BOYL exclusive models painted : The Navigator, this one is a bit special since it's the latest one (at the time of writing) from BOYL 2023 but it's a first in BOYL history since it 's the first multipart model !

This one has been sculpted by Time Prow and follows the pattern of switching from fantasy to sci-fi and the other way round every year.

Spider Swarm - Endless Spell form the Gloomspite Gitz

 Extremely quick one today, I just found this Gloomspite Gitz endless spell in my stash a while ago after getting it second hand at the FLGS, don't ask me why I decided to paint it now but I just grabbed a can of spray, primed it and after a few drybrushes, washes and details, decided it was good. 
I'll make sure to have a scenario in a game featuring that wave of spiders as a threat for characters, or I can just make it a band member in Stargrave and why not a Xenos captain ? WHY NOT ?

Anyway, that's one in the bank, happy painting y'all !

Hey there, quick one today ! My recent Stargrave campaign has hugely motivated me to get some more terrain and critters painted and since its spring I'm also trying to clear the desk from all the models who've been sittig there for too long, amongst which some alien bugsi've had since I got the Stargrave rulebook..

Colony87 Starport Ogre Crew

 

In the middle of preprations for a WE of Stargrave, I picked the opportunity o pick some Colony87 models to put on the table because frankly, who doesn't love NPC's ? I'm also all for taking any excuse to get models painted so when my friend Sho3box mentionned he was making a Starport table, I jumped on the opportunity.

Hey all ! Bit of a palette cleanser today. I have an upcoming Stargrave week-end with friends in april and though I have painted my Stargrave band a while ago, I still haven't used it for its intended purpose so here's the perfect occasion !

Now amongst the few things one needs to play Stargrave, there are of course a ruler/tape measurer/anything to give you distances on the tabletop, dice (of the 20 sided kind) AND because this game is like its fantasy big brother, a treasure hunt game, you need treasure tokens !

Hey all ! I was looking at the Stargrave rulebook the other day, thinking of what specific encounters would suit each scenario until I figured out I needed a giant skull robot in my life to guard data vaults, terrorise adventurers or just pose and look cool. As you do.

Now I've been slowly preparing myself for a big Stargrave campaign and amongst all the things I need is a list of critters and monsters to get some fun random encounters. So a little while ago, I made a selection of the sort of creatures I wanted to have crawling in the ground and popping right under my characters' nose !

Squeek ! - Giant Rats and rodents

Hey everyone, nothing real fancy today I'm afraid, since I'm clearing the desk of many WIPs, I found I had 13 rats based and ready and thought I could clear them pretty rapidly if I put my mind to it.

After all, that's the sort of thing a few drybrushes and some highlights should handle easily right ? Well I was actually right for once ! I just had to blue-tack them by groups on some old paint pots and here I was ready to paint a swarm of wait... 1,2, 3, 4...11, 12 and 13 ! Oh my (rat) god this has got to be a sign right ? I'm taking it as one anyway !

Dunkeldorf characters and new horizons

So after painting a classic ogre and bear for a friend, I thought I could finally finish these three guys I meant to paint for another friend !

You might remember the excellent kickstarter from Dunkeldorf earlier this year, well I was lucky enough to get a review package loaded with nice stuff ! The kickstarter aimed at providing players with all the NPC's and civilians any good Role Player might want to encounter (or maybe you do wan to play them after all ^^). Being well into warhammer RPG, mordheim and that sort of stuff, this looked awesome, just check :

Crystal Turtles !

Just like I said, I didn't paint any of what I should be painting but felt the urge to get these crystal critters done !

They're the Ferrus Testudines from Krakon Games and just feel right to have with the crystals I've painted so far so that's a good thing to have done !

I don't know what the 2 of them are doing to those rocks (maybe absorbing minerals) and I'm not sure I want to know but as they are, they're fine, it was a single night's work so everything pretty rough but I needed to get those done quickly to avoid the guilt of painting something else. And they look fine enough for NPCs and terrain I think.
Great little pieces to have, one day I'll find a way to use in a scenario I'm sure !
