Pox Wretches - Warhammer Quest Darkwater

Hey everyone ! I had a bit of a pause on the Darkwater project but it's still very much in the queue and hoping to get it done before 2026 ends !
The pox wretches were the part I dreaded the most of the box since they were a big batch of 14 similar looking troops and rank and file usually isn't the most exciting stuff to do. I knew though that after them there would only be big guys and fun characters left so the fun part.

Pestigors and Shaman Foulhoof - Wharhammer Quest Darkwater

Hey all, Following the first 4 heroes, and the mire kelpies, I've got onto the next villains and boss I needed to start plating the game, namely the pestigors and the Shaman.

Mire Kelpies and tokens - Warhammer Quest Darkwater

Hey everyone !
Following the heroes I painted for Darkwater, here are the villains I need to play the tutorial before we can move onto the main quest !

Spider Swarm - Endless Spell form the Gloomspite Gitz

Extremely quick one today, I just found this Gloomspite Gitz endless spell in my stash a while ago after getting it second hand at the FLGS, don't ask me why I decided to paint it now but I just grabbed a can of spray, primed it and after a few drybrushes, washes and details, decided it was good.
I'll make sure to have a scenario in a game featuring that wave of spiders as a threat for characters, or I can just make it a band member in Stargrave and why not a Xenos captain ? WHY NOT ?

Anyway, that's one in the bank, happy painting y'all !

Warcry Scions of the Flame

Happy new year everyone ! This one is starting ON FIRE ! Well I actually finished those on the the 31st of december but taking pictures and everything between too much food and beverages meant they're airing in 2023, at least I'll start soon enough with painted models !

Like often, I'm a bit (very) late on some trends so I'm only painting my first real band for Warcry now although I did get the models right when they were released.

Warhammer underwolds Shadespire - The Sepulchral guard

I'm back on Shadespire just as Nightvault is announced ! That's a good timing, especially since I still have one band left to paint for it ! (more about that later)

Now this month, I had a painting challenge for which I had decided I'd paint a band themed on a season, my pick obviously went straight to undead and autumn, because that's a theme I love and my favourite season and both are an obvious match.

That meant I wanted faded colours but obviously I couldn't help getting some vibrant reds in (I really must try to get rid of that habit before it becomes a cheap gimmick though).

Warhammer underwolds Shadespire - Ironskull's Boyz

Sometimes you do things you never thought you'd do. I never thought I'd paint anything related to Age of Sigmar, and here I am with my 3rd band belonging in it. I never thought I'd get the orruks for Shadespire, but here I am.

I didn't like the way they looked, didn't like the way I could hardly tell them apart, I didn't like the look of them.

But some things just happen, in my case, it was going to meet my dear friend Sho3box and playing Shadespire with him, facing his orruks with my Stormcast.

Wilson Ochtar - Octopus extraordinaire

Everything happens for a reason, even the most stupid ones (often the most stupid ones). It's been over a year now my WIPster friends and I have had the excellent Wilson in mind. You just cannot imagine the surprise we had when GW decided to release the Idoneth Deepkin and amongst them no other than our favourite invertebrate !

Warhammer underwolds Shadespire - Garrek's Reavers

It took me a while after Steelheart's champions but I finally managed to paint the second half of my box of Shadespire !

To be honest, this is the first time I paint all the models from a single box so that's quite an achievement ticked !

Just like for the Stormcast, painting the Reavers proved to be quite more challenging than expected due to my muscle memory being entirely focused on painting old lead.

Warhammer underwolds Shadespire - Steelheart's Champions

Guess what I'm back with ? Well there's not much to guess with a big picture to open the post but yeah, I've painted Stormcast. Again.

After trying Shadespire at my friendly local hobby shop, I had a really good time and immediately saw the opportunity to play this one with my non wargaming friends (the weird kind who like to play games but without miniatures only).

The bow set coming with 8 models and the bands being set as they are, I also knew there was little risk for me to say... start an new army or that kind of non sense.

GORECHOSEN : Willy Gutshagger

Long time no see huh ? Well I've been in holidays for a while now and this is still a model I painted before leaving but since I'm getting access to a computer, I thought I could post a little something !

This guy is part of an ongoing challenge with my fellow WIPsters on Scale Creep and I was meant to select an oldschool chaos model to make myself a character to play in the upcoming game GORECHOSEN by GW.

The idea of playing with small lumps of lead against titans of plastic was just enough to motivate me even if the word CHAOS is generally sufficient for me.

Champions of Law - Age of Sigmar Oldhammer style

Some models have a funny story, some don't, well this one wasn't planned to be painted a day before it was done. How's that ? Let me tell you...

A couple of days ago, My good friend Colin posted a superb illustration on the Oldhammer Facebook page :

What really captured our attention was the sign worn by the champion (I think it's actually Stephen who spotted this). This triple crossed arrow seems to be the symbol of Law, the arch enemy of chaos. Those who've read the opening of their realm of chaos books and their Warhammer fantasy Roleplay book will know that Law was meant to be the exact anthisesis of Chaos but for some reason the concept was never fully developed and abandoned little by little.

If you do want to know a bit more about Law and its pantheon, you might want to read this thread on the Oldhammer forum.

Dirt from a holy place - Age of Sigmarines

OK, once again I'm getting a little away from what the usual content here is but just like any other self respecting hobby geek, I just coudl'nt get past through that whole Age of Sigmar storm.

I am not going to do a review of the rules (I haven't tried them yet but I fully intend to... at some point...in the future... probably) nor a review of the models but just like many people, I just bought the WD that gave the free rules and free model aaaand just like any good butterfly, I immediately stopped doing what I was doing at the time and started building my Eternal Stormcast to play with it.

Then Summer happened and with it a wedding, moving house, BOYL and many other things...

Now things are a little more settled I found it would be the time to finish all the WIPs I still have (some dating from almost 2 years ago).
