Everything happens for a reason, even the most stupid ones (often the most stupid ones). It's been over a year now my WIPster friends and I have had the excellent Wilson in mind. You just cannot imagine the surprise we had when GW decided to release the Idoneth Deepkin and amongst them no other than our favourite invertebrate !
Now everything started from this cover :
And of course we had to push the concept to 11.
Wilson has lived many tales through our keyboards and even through our pens like these examplee our excellent Chris AKA Antipixi did :
No doubt Wilson's tale will get him to meet the most formidable opponents and friends and live the the most breath taking adventures. After all, his secret drem is to become the best Hussar Octopus in the world !
So far, his adventures have taken him to get himself between 2 rival bands in the underhive :
Where he had a brief passion that ended tragically...
Well helloooo ! |
"Leave Nicola alooooone !" |
Anyway, I'm very pleased to see Wilson got the audience and model it deserved, I hop GW continue this way. Big thumb up guys !
Glorious.
ReplyDeleteSometimes good things happen to good people.
There might be some karma involved I guess. ^^
DeleteWilson is a true master of combat!
ReplyDeleteGreat work as usual, my friend.
Teamwork at its best !
DeleteOf all the octopodidae I have ever known, he is the Hussariest.
ReplyDeleteThere can be only 8 !
DeleteI'm delighted to see Wilson in miniature form. It's great to see GW responding to their customer base. What's next? A reverse centaur?
ReplyDeleteIt just has to be. Now I think about it, it looks like they might have to come up with pretty offensive models to keep up with our ideas...
DeleteIt is a great looking figure. I think I might pick one up.
ReplyDeleteIt really is and far easier to paint than I thought.
DeleteIt is kismet! Hussar based Octo-Kismet!
ReplyDeleteIt was meant to happen.
DeleteWilson looks like a mincing machine!
ReplyDeleteAnd you haven't even seen him between the sheets... ^^
DeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks !
Deletelooks really cool! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat fun! It's also quite surprising how well the ochtar model works on its own -- looks like it would make a really cool Xenos character for INQ28.
ReplyDeleteIt's a multiverse character as far as I'm concerned. ^^
DeleteThanks !
Who needs a meat grinder when you have a Wilson. Lovely stuff JB
ReplyDeleteExactly mec, words of wisdom !
DeleteFun concept, great pics. Kudos for using that old Future Warriors mini in the last pic. I acquired a few of them back in the '90s, including that woman, to use with Necromunda (or as civilians or whatnot) but never painted mine. Looks like she should have learned not to triffle with Wilson!
ReplyDeleteIt's a misunderstanding surely, I can see all its tentacles !
DeleteThanks ! ^^
Just one question. Where is his hat?
ReplyDeleteThe model depicts him as he was before getting it along his full status (Episodes 1 to 7 and 13).
DeleteHow fun! How hard was it to separate the useless elf from him?
ReplyDeleteNot very, just had to run a hobby knife along the tentacle in the back in several gentle moves to avoid warping it.
DeleteSuch a cool sculpt and a great realisation of Wilson. Terribly tempted to pick one up myself now...
ReplyDeleteIt's honestly a very cool model and even the human pet that comes with it will be useful !
DeleteI'm just crying out loud in laughter. Man, you need a full army of these, it is law.
ReplyDeleteHe's an army of one really ! ^^
DeleteThanks !
Hah! Awesome stuff, man - I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks !
DeleteAwesome work sir!
ReplyDeleteI have just had a bank holiday of heavy drinking and sunburn and this is the first blog I check out on getting to work Tuesday ., . . . . . . Am I still drunk?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant man!!
I'd rather have the same effect as booze than sunburn !
DeleteGold!
ReplyDeleteThanks !
DeleteThat it just too cool. Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those times where you just have to spend a little time and energy into something stupid. ^^
DeleteWe want to know more about his romantic escapade!
ReplyDeleteThat's private ! Maybe you'll learn more in following episodes !
DeleteI love this. When I first saw the image of him fighting the fudgy Catachan the barcode on the Necromunda box in the background it made me think the entire image was actually the back cover of a White Dwarf. Took a minute to realise it was no that esteemed hobby organ publishing this hatstand concept, but a photo of your recent game.
ReplyDeleteIt should totally feature in WD !
DeleteBrilliant! Was any converting involved in getting rid of the stupid elf or are they essentially separate?
ReplyDeleteA few careful cuts along the tentacle was all it took to remove it !
DeleteExcellent, might pick it up myself then.
DeleteI have no idea what your referring to when you mentioned this Wilson thing, but I do like the paint job you did on him JB. Oh and Chris' mounted octopus is crazy :D
ReplyDeleteThe hyperlinks, you can click on them, it takes you to the start of it all. ^^
DeleteI know future is puzzling but it's also wonderful ! ;)
hyper what!? What sorcery do you speak of?
DeleteClicking on links is beneath me, ploughing through a massive backlog of posts drained my lifeforce to the point of dehydration. Can you just not use links in the future please? Be more considerate god damn it!
Wilson given form is the dawning of a new era of silliness for us all. I embrace it wholeheartedly! He has filled the 8 legged void in our collective soul...
ReplyDeleteI think at this point it's safe to expect a boxed game for his adventures. The action movie will be great I'm sure.
DeleteHoly awesomeness.
ReplyDelete...and I'm sure we can all relate to the "brief passion gone wrong."
Unfortunately yes... :/
DeleteThat's such a beautiful miniature and you did an excellent job on it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great one and I'm glad I had it done !
DeleteThanks !
