Having had troubles with a resin printed model with resin leaks not long ago, my mojo had taken a hit so I need something quick and fast rewarding. Big models aren't always the best choice for that but some can and I felt this one could be very efficient with just enough details. I did,n't add the huge horned skull on the back of the model because I reckon the model is already busy enough as it is and I think it looks really cool so I'm saving it for some conversion later !
I had fun painting the skin in a pale tone with plenty of washes and glazes to give some nuances and highlight the shapes of the sculpt. I could have gone further on the fabric pieces but I wanted to keep things simple and only thought of doing a leopard like sort of fur too late in the process.
It's painted though and only took a few sessions to complete which was exactly what I needed.
I won't resist touching up the prepainted caverns to fix a couple of things and satisfy my need to control things.
Great work - I really like how the colours are quite subdued but there's a nice range of them as well. It's a good model, too. I ought to check out some more of the Dungeons and Lasers miniatures.
ReplyDeleteThe model is busy, making some parts hard to reach but it's otherwise a very friendly and fun model, cheap doesn't hurt either.
DeleteLovely painting, although I feel that the red beard is a little too eye-catching compared to the subdued palette of the rest.
ReplyDeletePlus, I really need to get my hands on that Citadel Scout miniature somehow. It's just the perfect base miniature for my WFRP character.
The red hair on the right head is a last second choice and I was really aware it was standing more than I would be comfortable, could have gone with jet black but I also wanted to keep the strongly red oriented theme throughout.
DeleteFunnily, the scout who was made to be my replacement character hasn't got the chance to be played and my original character actually got a new model (on the right in the picture)
Wow, I'm shocked, this looks awesome, I love the work on skin and textures. What an imposing mini!
ReplyDeleteThanks mec ! giving nuances to the skin was a fun, I think it's always worth giving tonal variations even if it doesn't strike the eye on first glance.
DeletePas très constructif, mais j'aime beaucoup ! la chevelure rousse ressort un peu plus, mais ça ne distrait pas complètement le regard je trouve... et je suis preneur de ta recette pour les cheveux blancs de la tête principale.
