If you've started your hobby days in the early 90's like I did, the sight of big tunnel boring machines in Epic were iconic and one of the coolest thing to my younger self.
Until recently...
I sw it in between projects and since I had the time and motivation to potentially finish it in no time, I went for it !
There are only 3 real parts on this model, the big drill bit which was drybrushed in several metallic tones, got some ashes and some more drybrushes, the main body which was just drybrushed, and the ground hich was... you guessed it, drybrushed as well.
Add in a few decals, freehands and some weathering and in just a couple of sessions, it was done !
As much as I don't plan to give it to any particular army of mine, I do have big projects for this one in narative games though but it's fun to se how it looks next to RTesque models right ?
Now of course, I got to put it along the space dwarves and I think it looks great with them !
If you like this model, check it on Ramshackle's website HERE and happy painting to you all !
That's a really nice piece, I like how it looks battered yet functional. Cool job
ReplyDeleteThanks, I wanted it to look fairly in good shape and not overdo the weathering stage for once !
DeleteIt looks great. I always find large flat areas (armour plate) are hard to get looking good/real/interesting. Is the mottling from the model or an intentional paint effect?
ReplyDeleteThanks ! The mottling is on the cast but I found it was interesting to make it visible with drybrushing to break the look of fat surfaces, I didn't want to take the weathering too far weirdly enough
DeleteAlways felt GW not making these in 28mm back in the day for the Squats was a missed opportunity. (I would have picked up a few of the things for sure)
ReplyDeleteReally liking this sculpt tho and the light blue is a nice way for it to stand out on the tabletop.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised they released something in that vein one way or another, they do tend to repurpose a lot of the old stuff now and this is such an iconic concept,
DeleteThe blue came out of a will to make it kind of generic and I find it orks very well in that regard, thanks !
Nice paint job. Love the palish blue/green with the red marks.
