Pack Mootant - Mule of the Wastelands

OK, I kow I've been posting quite a lot lately but today's a bit peculiar. It's been 2 days I'm stuck at home with a bloody headache and nausea. Bless paracetamol and a stupid stubbornness that won't allow me to end a day without at least one small achievement. I've decided to paint what felt like an easy model.

The model is a pack mootant from Wasteman by Thunderchild miniatures. I strongly recommend you to have a look at the stuff there if like me you're a massive Fallout fan.

I like the sculpt, it's very nervous and straight to the point and I really mean this as a compliment. Very effective and immediately evocative. I wish I had got some of the unpacked ones now...
But what could I use a pack mootant for I hear you ask ? Seriously ?

The Brattish wanderer encounters a peculiar group in this desolated city lost in the wasteland. There's a thin line between honest traders, smugglers  and bandits...
Now you know what I'm talking about right ?

Have a good one you all ;)

  1. Thunderchild mini does awesome minis. Yet this one never particularly caught my eye. I have to admit, under your brush, it's becoming veery nice. And perfectly suit a wasteland brawl :)

    1. I did more than a basic job on this one really. Jason (TC miniatures' boss) is a very good painter and I do like his style a lot. I had often thought about getting this model but it first came with pilgrims I had little use for. Now it comes as a stand alone, it's a no brainer really.

    1. Nothing like copying between us Jon ! Mere cross inspiration at worst. I'll need some of the unpacked ones. ^^

    2. One day we'll come together and place all of our complementary models and terrain in one awesome mega-game / display. Your mootant will lumber past my alien pet seller, while my navigator will try and pick up an Eldar hooker :)

  3. Lovely painting, you've captured that down-trotten beast of burden look very well. I like the different skin tones too.

Thunderchild miniautres are great, I picked up a couple of them at Salute this year. This creature would work nicely in evil/Chaos armies baggage trains.

Hope you are feeling better now, keep up the painting. :)

  5. Astounding that you can paint to this standard when ill!! I really need to paint the minis I just like the look of more rather than for upcoming games

    1. It was mostly washes on top of a Zenithal preshading ^^.
I cannot advise you enough to paint models you want to paint every now and then instead of painting ones you need/have to paint. To improve both quality and quantity, I've really noticed pleasure was the key these last 3 years. Every 3 or 5 or ten models, it really depends on how you feel but it should never be a chore the way I see it.
I've had a chat about this with other guys and it often came up that when tired of painting, painting something else was often a solution as weird as it may seem.

  6. O so much character and very fitting for your game's setting! The eyes are what makes this piece for me. Nicely done mate.

    1. Cheers, it's one of those little pieces that can add a lot of depth in a game I reckon, I'll have a few more if I can.

    1. J'avoue avoir pas mal mulé dernièrement, avec 8 posts en 10 jours et près de 40 figurines, comme toujours, ca va retomber mais ca fait du bien de finir des projets qui trainent !
