Hess Poison Breath - take 2

Life's an eternal circle of doing the same things isn't it ? Well my painting life surely revolves a bit and I've recently had to come back to an old acquaintance after our first encounter...
The reason behind all this is that I've inflicted myself an embargo on miniatures and any modelling supply requiring paint. This embargo has started in May and though I've stupidly (and unwillingly) broken it by getting a set of scenery, it has changed quite a few things in the way I get new models. Apart from trades (my favourite way of dealing) and gifts (thanks to the generosity of many) my only resort is to pay in paint.
I therefore got a Nurgle champion I was looking for against a paintjob. The model happened to be a Jes Goodwin chaos sorceror so I was really pleased !

Painting wise, the owner had a very precise idea of colours and vibe so I just slavishly complied and only used my imagination and common sense for the few bits not specified. Funnily enough, the colour scheme wasn't that far from the one I used about 3 years ago.
The older one on the right had suffered a frosting catastrophy at the time only salvaged by a new coat of antishine matt spray afterwards which saved the appearance but killed all contrasts and making it a bit blurry...

So this was my way to get back into the swing of things, a Goodwin model is a good way to warm up again and is always means quality time spent with a brush. I feel all pumped up to get working on something a little more ambitious now ! ;)

  1. How fun to paint up another version of the same figure. And well painted both times!

    1. Cheers ! It was fun indeed and especially to be directed in the colours, it felt strange at first but that was nice !

    1. I'm now a firm believer that Nurgle doesn't need any green but you can see I'm not true to my own word !
The embargo is working well and I'm saving money as well as having less remorse about getting new models !

  3. That fig is so cool. Good for RT or Fantasy.

The colour scheme is pretty similar to the Champs of Law. I like it.

  5. Lovely work on a great model. It'll be interesting to hear how the embargo goes on into the future! Good idea, though. I haven't gone the embargo, but I am aiming to paint more than I purchase this year. We'll see how that goes!

    1. Apart from a single mistake, I've managed to keep up with it so far (since May), It's meant that getting some models has been more difficult but since I already have plenty to paint, it hasn't been a issue at all. I'll try and make this last till teh end of the year as I plan to save for a nice trip to the other side of the globe ;)

  6. You made a Nurgle colour scheme 'pop'. Need I really say more? You can't see this but I'm making an I'm not worthy bow in your general direction :)
