Hey everyone ! So not so long ago, I painted a bunch of Krogloggs from Lead Adventure Miniatures's Astropolis range and I got the warm welcome and the joy I got painting them felt great so I went looking into the online store and found that there were a few of those I didn't have !
Now I know the goal should be to diminish the pile and not grow it but with the paint scheme still pretty fresh in my hands I guess I could make things even if I got them done ASAP.
The range actually has plenty more of these guys but I wanted to focus on the NPC's and models who don't hold weapons, like those guys are peaceful (or at least more than humans).
I won't go too much into details I've covered for the other ones but this model has got to be one of the sweetest I've done in ages. The composition is just here, perfect, the little bend over the kid, the way the kid looks up, that really struck the chord in my dad heart.
This one is supposed to complete the trio by being the returning parent the ones above are pointing at) but I guess it can be just any alien traveller really.
Now amongst other things, I plan to make Street food stands and thigs like that so models actually eatig or drinking are just perfect and there's nothing more casual than to be sipping some soda in the streets.
And following the theme on food, Here's a very classy waiter ready to serve some tasty snacks and beverage. I have no idea if the octopous is supposed to be a snack as well or if it's a personal assistant but I've decided to paint it like Wilson for fun.
So here we are, now I reckon I'm done with those and I guess it's quite a nice group of those. I'm only noticing the size difference, not just the different head shapes and colours and this gives the group a real sense of diversity I really like, I like my humans to show diversity so having my aliens get it felt natural (although my orks do look very samey now that I think about it, probably all bred from the same mushroom I guess).
Happy painting to you all !
Oh, very sweet! I've always admired that Astropolis range, and the krogologgs are some really cool aliens. I'm still kicking myself for not going in on the kickstarters. It's a case of "you can't buy everything." But man, some of them are so cute and so sweet. Do you still have a source for those? I thought they were out of production, and I can't immediately find them outside the secondary market.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, they look lovely! Love the variation in color. The range of pink to purple tickles some happy childhood spots at the back of my brain just right. Very Jim Henson. Jim Henson meets George Lucas. (Return of the Jedi? I know Froud worked on that, so Henson probably did too. I forget.)
Thanks for this. :-)
Thanks !
DeleteThey're pretty easy to find if you Google them, I put a link in the previous post, it wasn't a month between painting the ones I had from the KS from ages ago and getting the new ones bought and painted
Very happy to see more of those. I love this group of non-fighter pink dudes you made, good Job !
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kinda need to make them specific houses now
DeleteLove these silly little bastards! Me and Lope and Paul killed, maimed, and abused them when they were over last! I used the hunters for Pauls game as well. The pink really works for these I went with a grayish blue glad to see these getting some coverage tho in 2026 as they are great narrative driven minis.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right, they can really steer a story towards fun parts, the most fun I have is coming up with reactions from the NPC's when the players start misbehaving
DeleteLove your colours. I've always held off painting these guys as I couldn't decide on a colour.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, although I've held off for ages, I knew from the start this was how I wanted them to be, like it was obvious
DeleteLove these new additions JB. Just fun aliens in general. They'll certainly add lots of interest to your gaming setups.
ReplyDeleteIt's combining 2 great elements : NPC's and aliens, what's not to love !
DeleteVery cool -well done!
ReplyDeleteCheers
