Pitch invasion and Oldhammery !

From my reports about Inquisitor Greyfax and the Shadow Legion, you might have understood I attened a gaming convention last Week end.

Well all of this started with a brilliant game of warhammer 3rd edition. The game was organised and masterfully GMed by Nico and I really invite you to go read his report of the game as well as the previous preparation posts. You'll have a look in a true genius' mind.
The teams were divided between 4 players, with my firend Mandrin and Myself plating the skaven team and facing the despicable orcs and goblins.

Just look how determined and focused the skaven players (in red caps) are and how stupidly laid back the orcs look...

The idiotic and shameful orcs were trembling in fear at the very idea of this game...

While the glorious resolve in the ratmen's eyes could been seen from miles away.

All the ratmen fans were shouting wonderful cheering songs to the promised victory and the players !

The referee was about to toss the coin and the exaltation was almost tangible.

That was only until the skaven cheerleader spotted something odd and pointed the bills coming out of the ref's pocket, something WAS ODD !
Just how could orcs think they had any right to bribe the referee !

The skaven too the fences down and decided to invade the pitch !

The slaves were so angry they decided to go straight at the other supporters !

This treason wouldn't be left unpunished ! Betraying skaven is like outdrinking dwarves, it just can't be !

The skaven slaves quickly (well not really) understood the goblin had prepared everything when lunatics came out and wiped them !

The great banner bearer decided to take the orc's best player down with the help of some suporters to give those green guys a lesson !

With all the pitch invaded and in rage, there was little place left for sportmanship...

There was none left when goblins came in with one of their abominations.

Forcing the famous Galak Starscrapper to come in and force a little order  on the field in his blunt way.

Despite holding the ground and being very close to a victory, teh ratmen had to admit there wasn't much to be saved, they had been a few inches of winning here but the odds were agsinst them...

Honestly, I cannot thank Nico enough for such a great game. All the models were stunning as you would expect from him and teh game was mastered with brio like usual. Nico is taking care of every detail to leave all the fun parts to his players. The ideal GM really. The man even can make a 3rd edition game run quickly !

Thanks to the other players who were very fun and in that mood that focuses on fun before anything.
Splendid really !

While we were playing the pitch invasion, some guys were having fun with ranked battles of 3rd edition as well !

And on the second day, Nico got his undead army as well :

With a bit of WH40k 2nd ed action taking place elsewhere :

At last, I would really like to thank Curtis from Ramshackle games and Geoff from Oakbound for providing us with free models as for BOYL last year, it's a very nice attention to link our humble event to the others in the world and bound thi slittle community and although it is not a surprise from such generous and lovely gents, it's just as nice ! Just look at what they sent us and check their respective sites for some real good models.
Many thanks to you guys !

Next on leadplague I 'll probably show you some close-ups of the terrain I painted just prior to the Week end and I should probably resume normal service after that with some underhive dwellers... ^^

  3. I had never even considered the possibility of a Warhammer skirmish in the stands of a Blood Bowl stadium. It's a genius idea and really does look immense fun. Congratulations to Nico for conceiving and staging the game.

    1. Pitch invasion is a scenario from a french equivalent of the citadel magasine (meaning official) and you can either play skirmish outside the pitch or ranked on the pitch itself, it's utterly silly and we've only seen part of it in a game as it has many special events and characters !
Nico did an amazing job as usual.

  4. Really happy for you JB, it must have been a blast. Apart from getting to game, there's quite a lot more that I love about going to conventions too i.e. seeing all the other types of games going on with inspiring miniatures & terrain and getting all excited to do the same at home.

    Fantastic stuff :)

    1. Seeing people you only chat with on the net and getting to game with tjem with what you've painted is basically like solving a puzzle you've spent time building the parts of.
It also boradens our view of the hobby as you get to see how others play and do.
      I really like it.

  6. Eye candy all around, brilliant! That BB scenario is crazy fun, the kind of weird stuff you would see in early White Dwarfs.

Love all the 3e armies as well, fantastic painting.

    1. Its utterly silly and the studio behind it was the one selling GW related products in France and which became the french Studio at some point so it's 100% legit.
There was good stuff being show all around. ^^
