Here's a little palette cleanser ! I'm going to a gaming con next week end and some folks have mentionned the opportunity to play Batards in Bascinets so I had to check on it !
You can find the rules HERE and to sum things up, it's a quick little game where knights fight one another in the most dishonourable ways, think Monty Pythons' Holy Grail and that sort of stuff.
It turns out I will most likely miss the game itelf but I'd never lose the opportunity to paint a model or 2 (or three) for a fun game so as soon as the game was mentionned, I went for my bits box and tried to come up with a plan.
It turns out I'm realtively poor in medieval bits but I found some AoS Ironhelm parts and helmets from different sources that would do the job if you're not too much into historical accuracy (which isn't the point of this game at all).
The first knight was inspired by this item in the rules :
I knew I wanted a drunkard because of that so went looking for a suitable body and gave it a fitting pose, using his sword to stand up.
Now of course, if anyone mentions Holy Grail, the first idea that comes to mind is obviously the infamous black knight :
So I HAD to make it WYSSIWYG right ? So I did.
I magnetised the left arm and right leg and added gore effects on the severed joints so that I can remove them if I ever need !
After doing the first knight, I was too delighted to stop so used a spare bidy and a cool brettonian head to make a new knight, the best fitting head had this boar on tm so I wanted to make him quite brutal looking so I thought the big hammer/mace and small shield looked just perfect for that !
And while squires and NPC's have no influence on the game whatsoever, I just wanted to have someone shouting insults at his master's opponent so made this squire, eager to get a piece of action as well !
So here we go, I might test the game at home with the boys or maybe I'll get a chance this weekend but those were 3 fun models to do that boosted my mojo for more ambitious projects to come !
Go check the rules and leave a few bucks to the creator HERE. and check his INSTAGRAM.
