GORECHOSEN : Willy Gutshagger

Long time no see huh ? Well I've been in holidays for a while now and this is still a model I painted before leaving but since I'm getting access to a computer, I thought I could post a little something !

This guy is part of an ongoing challenge with my fellow WIPsters on Scale Creep and I was meant to select an oldschool chaos model to make myself a character to play in the upcoming game GORECHOSEN by GW.
The idea of playing with small lumps of lead against titans of plastic was just enough to motivate me even if the word CHAOS is generally sufficient for me.

The one I picked is an absolute classic made immortal by Fraser "God" Gray :

My colours remain quite close to the master's apart from the helmet which was better in black in my mind. I've also opted for a bluish skin tone to contrast with the outrageous amount of red displayed everywhere else !

I'm quite happy with the work on the metallics although the gore (blood for the blood god) is hiding the fading orange (top part) to blue (bottom part) on both chainmail and spear.

As soon as I get back home, I'll post about a lot of WIP I've managed to work on during this summer period (I had to keep busy). So prepare yourself for an orgy of bare lead, plastic and green stuff !

  1. Always liked that model. Very cartoony pose, but silly and Chaos as hell.
Glowy eyes on the helmet is a great touch and the colour palette work really well.
    Good stuff mate.

  5. One of my favourite of that Chaos Warrior range, JB; classic Aly Morrison. Such a fantastic pose and a joy to paint. You're right, the black helmet works really well. The skin optoon is well suited also. Lovely job!

  7. Love this model... bought it on a whim from eBay a couple of years ago and it was the first that started me back down the path to collecting Oldhammer models. I thought I would just build a warband... now I have the models for four different armies!
