Every now and then, despite the fact you think you know them well, your friends can amaze you. I suppose that's part of why they're your friends in the first place but see, it still so very nice to be lifted up by such people.
You might already be aware of Theottovonbismark's Bizaza Guards and many of his other projects, well lately I had the chance to get my hands on Jon/Axiom's very first full sculpt.
I invite you to have a look at his Blogpost for the full story behind it HERE.
Now the best thing about it is that Curtis over at Ramshackle Games kindly offered him to have his first model moulded and cast in resin. That's a sweet gesture from him, totally not surprising coming from the sweet guy he is. Go check his last kickstarter about jetbikes HERE.
Now here's the next best thing, my brother from the other side of the Globe James has been working on a sublime vehicle many of you will like straight away. The idea was so nice and the execution so good Curtis offered to get that one cast as well.
Just check this painted version :

As a matter of fact, another friend of mine just did his first sculpt and got it cast so it should be coming very soon here !
Get sculpting Monseigneur Baptiste, get sculpting.
ReplyDeleteAha, in due time, in due time, I'm still too shy (and lacking skills) for now !
DeleteThanks a lot for your overal contribution in all those projects though. ;)
JB Sculpting is a long way to arrive to do something good... You Have to sculpt sculpt and sculpt, often frustrating but at least you can do something good!
ReplyDeleteTry fimo...
Well, sculpting is not my foret and not something I enjoy enough for now to try and go any firther, as I gain confidence, I'll gain pleasure as well I reckon. Who knows where this leads me ? ^^
DeleteThere's no hiding from that ginger beard! Mine is also ginger when grown, but not quite that shade!
ReplyDeleteA lovely paint job on a naïve early sculpt ;)
Enjoyable all the same !
DeleteTo be fair, I just applied the colours as I thought and realised teh colourscheme was almost the same as the previous two...
My red haired friends are like walking carrots, I had to do them proud and make that one flashy !
I hadn't realised, until you just pointed it out, that there has indeed been quite a few of "the gang" producing minis/vehicles of late. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on Diegos' Pantheon of Chaos minis too....their very tasty :)
ReplyDeleteI was tempted to contact Curtis about my Jet-bike creation after I'd read his very kind offer over on the Oldhammer forum, but I didn't, as I think it would require a bit more work, cleaning up the seams & sharpening up the edges before it'd be ready to cast up professionally.
It's a great time to be into Oldhammer/Oldschool gaming isn't it?
Cheers mate :)
It sure is !
DeleteWe have the time to improve, this is only the beginning !
A bearded lady in any other setting. Which is dead cool. Roll up! Roll up!
ReplyDeleteI like when hobby pals are industrious and brave enough to attempt to get their own sculpts cast up. Means our claims to this hobby become even more personal and special.
Adding a fair bit of friendship in this hobby has made it way more enjoyable and productive !
DeleteBrilliant stuff all round - very inspirational! I do love the fact that the OH scene is such a cool bunch :-)
ReplyDeleteSome real nice folks amongst all those beards. ;)
DeleteCurtis is a top notch chap, his kickstarters an example of how they should be done, and my desire to send him money is limited only by my ability to aquire it.
ReplyDeleteThat sums up things pretty well !
DeleteHaha, I can only applaud so much gentlemanliness, only matched by talent. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteEntirely with you on that point.
DeleteI think you should start with something simple as a first sculpt mec, like maybe a mega gargant with full interior detailing, and we can go from there :) wonderful work all round, what a talented bunch we are :D
ReplyDeleteI'm no good with Pcard so I'll start with a Greenstuff Mega gargant, you're right.
