Eric Raucher the squat - Old School miniatures

I suppose it's hard to let squats go so I recently got another one from Old School Miniatures. Now Jamie over at Oldschool Miniatures has commissioned the ever talented John Pickford to sculpt a model of the company's mascot Eric.

As you can see, there's just everything you'd expect from an oldschool space dwarf here but there's an added laid back composure to him I really like. He's just got the look of a dwarf taking a well earnt rest after purging 3 hive fleets in the morning.

Although I'm not a smoker myself, I find quite nice to see my squats lighting a cigar and taking non sense after a good battle. ^^

I can only encourage you to go check Old school miniatures and some of the pretty cool stuff they have (there's an alpine dwarf that just made his way into one of my future projects. I've heard about more really cool stuff I'll definitely be keeping an eye on.

Now this model was a very bit of a palette cleanser after painting 8 riders but I must get back on my schedule. ^^

  1. Love the camo on that grim little bearded smoking guy :)
I also find it nice to have figures in casual poses, not grabing their guns and shooting at anything crossing their path.

  4. Really stellar work. As Docteur Half said, non-combatant / relaxing models really are brilliant. I much prefer them to charging / shouting / firing figures. He's a cute little addition to any scenic shot!

    1. Make him guarding an entrance or a convoy or anything and it's immediately better than a living statue standing still. ^^
I'm sure you'll find a brilliant use for yours.

  5. Excellent job JB, I dont know if it was intentional but you really gave him that 1000 yard stare. The camo and the cigar are perfect as well. Nice work Mec. ;)

    1. I honestly had to google that but I did want to show he was exhausted (I essentially made his eyes look thinner).
      Thanks mec !

    1. I had just painted a bunch of squats so went with what I had done on the others, my hands knew the way so I left them lead the way !

  8. Nice work doing the camo! Did you convert him with the bolter, thought he would have a lasgun based on the logo.

    1. I did not change the model one bit. I suppose the bolter was more convenient to cast.Or maybe he did get an upgrade between to smokes ?
      Thanks !

  9. I love that city-camo. And, as always, so many beautiful details.
But I guess it's true what my momma told me: smoking really will stunt your growth.
