Olivia Headhunter - Oldhammer special

Results over manners. That could be the definition of Olivia's state of mind and practical way of handling missions. Not that any of her employers have had anything to say about it so far.
Olivia is a special character, not only because she's one of the most fearsome female imperial guard models you've seen in a while but because she was the gift model at this year's BOYL.

You might remember her from the black and white pages from the Rogue trader rule book :

Well the model was so good and people were already starting to paint brilliant examples so I decided to paint mine early !
As you see, I've tried to stick as closely as I could to the original illustration with a few artistic choices regarding the colours that might be hers in real life.

She's proven to be a joy to paint and quite an easy one too since she was done in an afternoon (in between Twin Peaks episodes).

Olivia will join a group of Rogue trader inspired models. I've decided I'd make a unit fully made of characters appearing in the rulebook !

They're all new models I'm afraid but there's no age to celebrate the oldschool goodness, is there ?

  3. Hmm, that's an unusual choice of palette, but I must say it totally works. Well done, man!

    1. Well I had to make it stick to the illustration didn't I ?
That's not what I'd wear any day of the year though!
      Cheers amigo !

  4. Glorious. Nice touch putting the tuft on the base to ape the illustration. The grey palette is a really nice callback to the original art. I'm impressed, and a bit more scared to paint my casting.

    2. Honestly man, I can't remember the last time I painted a mini. Maybe the Eldar? It's been a while between drinks ;)

I'll get back in the saddle, just gotta figure the colour scheme for this gal. Might go batshit crazy with her instead.

    3. It's been a one month hyatus for me, quite weird to be honest. Just grab something you fancy and think about it, your muscle memory will do the rest.

It's got me thinking just what lengths I might go through to get my hands on an Inquisitor Obiwan Sherlock Clousou mini...

  12. Wow, she's bloody lovely.

Good colour choices too, considering the artwork is black and white.

Almost feel sorry for the owner of that severed head. :(

  14. She's beautiful JB! The white trousers are a little trailer trash, but she carries them off with aplomb ;)

The restrained monochrome with the vivid red really is eye-catching. Great stuff!

  17. All the details are so wonderful, but the thing that elevates this to the highest tier is the contrast between Olivia's face and the face of her victim. Their expressions are mesmerizing. Bravo, JB!

    1. I'm glad I don't have any IGs painted beacuse I would have been tempted to paint them like them, I prefer to have her as a stand alone. I might still decide to paint future IGs accordingly but that would be something else really...

  21. I've got an whole army of Imperial Army that I could paint her to match! It's the obvious move, but how exciting is it?

    1. Well, you could surely make her stand and paint her male colleague holding a severed ork head to make a duet. I think both option of integrated and Stand alone can be fun.
