Models through another Prism(a)...

My favourite "creation" (I mean creation as in import photo / add filter)

Sometimes, spare time is used for great achievements and sometimes it's not so much. Sometimes it's even worse and it's spent playing with a smartphone and this can lead to the purpose of this post.

Following Blue's exemple, I played a bit with Prisma, a free app for your smartphones (unless you have a bloody Googlephone) that let's you tweak pictures in a simple and very effective way.
So here's just a few shots, I'm not really sure about how I can use that in the future but there must be a place for augmented pictures at some points so probably some small touches here and there can provide an interesting alternative to fading blue backdrops.

I don't really know how to take this but the models do look better with the filters ^^

I'm a sucker for good colour combo and this one pleases me more than it should

This one's almost like an 80's metal band cover.

Damn, I'm sure IKEA could sell truckloads of posters like this one.

OK, next time I swear there'll be more (freshly) painted models, painting has proven to be quite tiresome lately with the heatwave striking us, the paint and bristles seem to cope with it even worse than we do. ;)

  1. While those definitely aren't as great as your paintings, they manage to tell a story and, as you noted, would perfectly fit on a banner or the cover of a retro rpg book. Just for that, they are awesome (and while the app add its touch, your painting and colors shine... through this prism)

    1. Aha, cheers, it's something else, definitely not something I want to fill the blog with but a tool I'll keep in mind for future occasions for sure.

  2. Interesting effect. I think modified photos like these would work wonderfully as illustrations on homemade stat cards.

    1. A VERY cool idea indeed. Even for mission cards or as the cover for a battle report, they could prove very useful !

    2. Agreed, that'd be the best use I reckon!

  3. I've also dabbled with Prisma and miniatures a bit, but I haven't got as good effects as yours. But it's fun, when you paint miniatures you have to stylise the reality a bit, and then with Prisma you stylise it a bit more.

This is my best effort, not sure if the link works though.

  6. OK, that's cool.

Correction: Installed the app and am now convinced that it's VERY cool.

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely find a use for this.
