New Kev Adams Goblins by OSM

Hey all, so OldSchool Miniatures are running a new Kickstarter for goblins sculpted by the goblinmaster himself, Kev Adams and they've kindly asked me to paint a few before the end.

If you've ever painted any you know Kev Adams models and his green skins especially are real happy places and definitely the kind of models that always leave you more energised after painting them.
I've decided to keep very eathly colours on those to keep a dark fantasy vibe.
I did keep some more "red era"-esque parts like the captain's shield because I just had to y'know

Painting Kev Adams models over the years is also following his style and its evolutions and I have the feeling he's evolved again recently, I can almost feel some traces of Bob Olley's style in the noses and some details which weren't present in his 90's style although the touch is still undoubtedly his.

Another good thing about painting goblins is that they take so little time they're extremely rewarding !

Those probably took me 3 evenings while painting some other stuff and I managed to test a few new things like different ork skin than usual and different metals.

I hope you like those just like I do and I really encourage you  to go have a look at the ongoing kickstarter to get your fix HERE.

  2. Perfect oldschool vibe to these and your typically lovely painting just accentuates their designs all the more.

  5. Lovely sculpts - backed this the second I saw it, having picked up the related gobbo archers last year. Know what you mean about the style evolution - the heads seem proportionately larger than some of the Kev sculpts I have from Back In The Day - it does add more space for even more of his awesome characterisation, but again, absolutely agree that there is some Olley in that DNA, and I never gelled with that style personally. I think with these sculpts though, that hint of Olley works really well. Cannot wait to get my hands on these!

    1. I love Bob Olley's models a lot, it takes to paint a few to "get" it, when it clicks though they're extremely rewarding and fun, his ogres are stellar for instance.
Kev has that quality to him that makes his work always enjoyable, bit like Jes Goodwin's.

    2. Oh yes(yes) - the Jes Skaven are up there as some of my favourite sculpts of all time.
And I failed to comment on your painting with all my waffling - apologies - these gobbos look superb!

    3. Thanks, no worries ! Jes is probably my favourite sculptor, hardly a dud in his output.
