Since I've been meaning to paint him for some time it made sense to stick as closely as possible to the original but I've had to makes some minor changes to make it work. The arm is an unified gold instead of the greenish forearm displayed in the drawing, I never fully understood that bit, I also blocked a cable and backpack ribs in black to break the monotony but all in all I think it's close enough !
I did fill the left shoulder too since we can't know what's on it anyways, thought a BA symbol would break the full red aspect.
Oh and I did try to write "Necromunda" on the scroll but there isn't much space in there !
The model scales extremely well with RTB01's (I guess that's intentional) and the styles are extremely similar (I could have used some sharp edges on those legs but that's how they came to begin with !).
For now, I'll just hae to play pretend confrontation I guess !
Oh and once again, just look how the Necromunda team is nice with us ;)
I just love these little nuggets of old lore into the new version.
If you haven't seen it yet, check out my man Grove's version HERE, he gets credits for having the first painted and it motivated greatly !
I really like your angle of him more face on. And I really like that action scene shot of him gunning down your Scavvies. And I love your Scavvies.
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing up the reasons for your deviations from the Les Edwards piece. It's a leitmotif of Games Workshop art that Space Marines get their undersuits and cabling painted the same colour as the plate. Like, the Blood Angel on the cover of the White Dwarf Battles collection. It adds to the visual impact of the art, but goes against the classic GW painting philosophy of representing different areas of detail in distinctly different colours.
Thanks ! The more face on angle is fun and conveys a totally different vibe with the groin pushed forward.
DeleteI couldn't help but tweek a few things for how I would have wanted it to be !
That final scenic picture is what this figure is all about!! It looks perfect. You made some (sensible) tweaks to the colour scheme - I do like the gold forearm and the deeper red armour. Lovely job.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've been meaning to recreate this scene for a while so I'm glad I had the hardest part done for me finally !
DeleteVery nice sculpt and painting. I've got that White Dwarf somewhere - it was a good one, IIRC.
